Yeah, I thought last season was kind of weak, but the first two this season I thought were great. Hopefully they can keep it up.

The show has had quite a bit of shock value, but it was usually prefaced by good comedic timing.

For instance, the person shooting himself in the bar's basement during Frank's game of Russian Roulette was preceded by the viewer wondering what it would take for Mac and Dennis to take a more rational stance on the allowable amount of freedom.

Things like Charlie vomiting a ridiculous amount of fake blood and the doctor getting shot in the head was random and had nothing behind it to make me find any humor.

That was awesome, is what that was.

Just the dog eating Dee's hair was worth anything else, and the rest was pretty good too.

Did anyone else think Mary Elizabeth Ellis (the waitress, Charlie Day's wife) looked pregnant?

eta - yes, she is

I'm with MSmith83 on this. Last episode was too over-the-top .... not enough comedy meat to chew on.

Pretty #@$%ing hilarious episode. Although wtf is up with mac being a fat ass or is that a fat suit?

Nice, thanks. They really seem to not take anything seriously on the show so it's hard (for me at least) to see them as over the top. Same for weeds. Both just seem fun crazy **** going on, maybe not totally realistic, but does the job. I like Rob seem like a nice guy, although all of them except for Devito is that way.

I just spoke with my brother on the phone.

He agrees that the season premier took it over the edge. It was more of a "shock fest" than a comedy. He has not seen the 2nd episode yet.

All in all, it depends on your level of comedy. What you think is funny. Some people laugh about cancer and rape. Some people would be very offended about a joke about cancer.

btw, I'm a little drunk

Edit: Cancer is in my family. Not trying to be mean.

I have dark humor (think Death to Smoochy) and I've been called cynical. Litening to Adam Carolla now. I'm pretty sure they were thinking of me.

I found A Clockwork Orange pretty hilarious too.

This episode had it's moments. I still want a rum ham. But overall didn't quite click as a whole. Shooting the doctor in the back of the head just seemed out of place.

I am surprised by the amount of drugs that are referenced in the episodes (Crack, extacy, angel dust, etc..) but all in all I like the edgy stuff.

Is anyone finding Mac's weight gain as comedic gain yet? It was funny in the first episode and used well, not so much in ep 2.

I loved the whole sequence of Dennis and Dee with their new "friends". Robbing the liquor store, smoking the angel dust, shooting the doctor, etc all was a great way to show the horror of the night they were having, and showing it in direct contrast to the awesome evening that everyone else was experiencing. Really great episode.

I suppose it was ok when him and Devito were on the boat in the middle of no where.

A good combination of the predictable and the unpredictable. Of course the Jersey shore was going to be a dump but having it deserted with stray dogs was funny. Of course under the boardwalk was going to be something horrifying but the reveal was funny. Of course the waitress had to hate Charlie at the end but who guessed she was on E (I thought Charlie was!)? Of course the knife was going into that raft but who knew how they would be rescued?

Of course there were over-the-top scenes (nudity always means an ugly man's butt on this show) but this show has describing the prank of "tea bagging" and shown a homeless man masturbating so what do you expect?

He's referring to an earlier episode, a homeless man behind the bar.

"Bums: Making a Mess All Over the City". That was one of my favorite cold openings of the show.

That is one of the show's best episodes. It has Charlie acting as Serpico, and the tough junkyard cat that Dennis is so fond of.

Reminds me of how there were some fantastic episodes the first few seasons, but there wasn't anything last year I really remember, besides Dee being pregnant. I even forgot the resolve... What happened to the baby? Anyway, if the rest of this season is as good as these first two episodes then they're back on track.

Dee was the surrogate mother for the tranny and her husband's baby.

While I think last season was the weakest thus far, I enjoyed it more than I will this season if it stays on its current course. At least last season had Lethal Weapon 5 going for it.

That along with "Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare" sold me on the show. It has an ability to take outrageous situations and push them far beyond any show would take them while somehow keeping them funny (most of the time).

Last season it felt like the two-part episodes would have made better one-part episodes.

I liked tonight's episode. Like an episode of South Park, it did a fine job pointing out the absurdity of these child pageants.

Having Frank break his nose was a clever way to make him look like more of a creep. And no episode that features a stage performance of any kind would be complete without Artemis.

How awesome was the techno remix of "Yankee doodle" and frank talkin about having sex with dead bodies. Show still has balls in it's 7th season.

Danny Devito's make up was pure HD comedy. They did a perfect job of making him look progressively creepier as the episode went on.

We got to see Sweet Dee's relive another one of her teenage dreams that went horribly wrong.

That song & dance number they did was classic. And Frank getting makeup done by a mortician had me rolling.

I only wish I had a rum ham to enjoy it more.
