Maybe for a couple of years yet....until then, let's all keep those thoughts to ourselves!

Agree, though. Always thought she was a pretty girl, but her costume choices last night? I believe the technical term is "jailbait".

Great episode. Those that didn't like it the first time around need to watch it again. My favorite parts of the episode were the (mis)sayings of Gloria:
You looked like a deer in headlights = You looked like a deer with head lice
Dog eat dog world = doggie dog world
Voluptuous = Volumptuous
Ultimatum = Old tomato
Baby cheeses = Baby Jesus

Also good quote: "There's only three people dressed up here -- a tool, a douche, and me."

I agree, this was one of their funnier episodes.

But for sheer hysteria, it's hard to beat a. the pickup scene in the hotel bar from last season and b. Gloria sneaking up on Jay and Manny in the garage from last week: "What are you doing with that shovel?"

I loved the costume design and lighting from this week's episode. It also provided me with the usual number of belly laughs per minute. And since you guys seemed to notice Haley's outfits in particular, here they are, along with some of my other favorite shots:

I thought the episode overall was pretty good, although I didn't find the angle with the neighbor who's wife left him very funny. Phil just didn't have funny lines to capitalize on it. The line about Haley attracting Japanese business men with her nurse outfit was great.

So, there I was staring at the two episodes of MF that were waiting on the DVR, while simultaneously wondering how else I could use that 40 minutes when all of the sudden ... boom ... before I knew it, they were gone ... twitchy fingers.

I don't know why, but this has been happening quite often this fall. The drive to take back my life from TV/HDTV madness continues ....

It's odd how differently people respond to things. I thought Phil's panic attack about his own marriage, along with Claire's obliviousness to the insecurity, made everything else about the episode that much funnier. All the Dunphy's are clueless in their own way, and it's what makes their relationships so chaotically attractive. As Claire says, "I'm afraid you're stuck with me."

"The Middle" grows on you, for sure. I have a weekly doubleheader of "The Middle" and "Modern Family" on the DVR. "The Middle" keeps getting better and better.

I didn't think the dialog was very memorable this episode but the comedy was all in the facial expressions.

The smoke alarm gag was really tired until they turned it into the masculinity sensor. Then I thought it's mocking beep and Phil's confounded reactions were great.

This cast works well together, but I think O'Neill is the only one who could carry a show on his own; the rest all rely completely on each other to make their own characters interesting enough.
