I don't agree at all. The think that for the most part this year's episodes are very good.

I just think that overall this "HDTV Programming" area is dying. I know I don't come here near as often as I used to. I used to check it pretty much every day - now it is about every two weeks or so.

Hardly. It's more a reflection on the generic state of programming. Cookie-cutter sitcoms and endless reboots and movie concepts with barely any thought required. Find an original show in which something actually happens and the threads are as active as ever.

Modern Family is doing the same thing it's always done. There's nothing to see here. It competently fills a gap in the schedule that is at least still a step above "Grumpy Man Married With Sitcom Wife Trouble."

I've forgotten how long this show has been on the air but if it ended I wouldn't miss it. I can barely distinguish one episode from any of the others.

My wife and I have watched from the beginning. We used to laugh out loud often, rewind the dvr etc. Now we just roll through them and they barely get a chuckle. The problem with any show like this is there is only so many gay married couple, old guy with trophy wife, bumbling husband that sells real estate etc jokes you can come up with. The show was great. It's not anymore. It's not terrible its just average.

As long as the ratings remain high, it's not going anywhere.

"High" is relative these days. The show is not even close to being at it's peak viewing that it was in it's early seasons but with a 2.0 rating and 7 million viewers it's still way ahead of a lot of shows on the air.

However as Modern Family continues the salaries go higher and higher so at some point those ratings will not be justification for the cost of producing it.

While I still watch it, it's more out of "loyalty" than anything. Sure, it still has it's funny moments, but it's not as good as it used to be IMO.

I think I read somewhere that Ed O'Neill is about done and while this is an ensemble cast I could see this show dying with his departure.

Literally! I would expect Jay dies. Manny goes away to college, Gloria moves near him.

Spin-off - "The Dunphy's"

That should cover everyone left.

I don't get her appeal, fat butt, not great looking. Sarah Hyland is much better looking, although too skinny

Everybody likes different types of girls. Just sayin

As the ratings drop they are still "good" but remember early on when they were winning the emmy every year and killing it in the ratings they all held out for more pay, so it's an expensive show from a cast perspective. I am sure at some point they would love it if 1 or 2 of them decided they didn't want to do it anymore. Ed Oneill is in his early 70s.

I used to watch the show in syndication in the afternoon. Now, I don't even think about watching it anymore.

Yup (to the 2nd quote). I don't get Sarah's appeal. To me she has bug eyes and like you said, too skinny. They try too hard to make her the "hot one" when IMO Ariel has much more going for her.

Ariel is tapping a nerd-appeal wave like nobody's business! I have inappropriate thoughts about her, frequently.

Margot Robbie is THE most exquisite human creature on the face of the planet, in this moment in time.

You're talking about those beach photos? If not, link me to these alleged photos...

I don't "expect" her to blow my socks off in a beach scene, though. It's not really her element (in my mind), so if she just merely achieves "decent", I give her the thumbs up. I do agree that the show allows her to mesh with her element well. Ok, her character does seem kind of snobbish/elitist on the show at times. She does physically look good to my eye.

FAT butt?! No, it's just BIG! Just look at her newer pics on instagram - wow!

Also she has nice hips, great legs and a wonderful pretty face.

Sarah Hyland has a face like a monkey IMO.

Just checked out Ariel's Instagram photos (for research of course). Seems like she is more about her butt than boobs these days since getting the reduction.

Is Sarah pregnant or something? Her face looked like a pumpkin in the previous episode (the one with the proposal).

My wife asked me if her face looked different during that episode. You're right, it was very round (like a pumpkin).

As for her being pregnant, I can't find any info on it.

It seems quite a few people noticed it including me, but it could have been medication or something related to the kidney transplant she had a few years back.

Anyone watching the new season? Decent start so far, but I am tired of Cam's sister and the exaggerated accent. It's like nails on the chalkboard.

I think the writers are doing good this year.
Agree, the sister not so good so far.
But all the rest is great.

Still doing it’s thing competently. At this point the show has been on so long that it’s become one of those old reliable shows that delivers exactly what you expect when you are in the mood for it.

If it was off the air I don’t imagine I would notice though.
