The show is Ok, but their is nothing ground breaking here that deserves all the love the show seem to get. The writing may be semi smart, and I guess that is enough for today's audiences. As I've said before the characters are too stereotypical, if they fixed that I'd be more inclined to heap praise on the show. As it stands for me it's a solid B+ at best.
Did anyone else who ordered from Amazon not get release day delivery? I have a delivery date of the 22nd, but it is suppose to be release tomorrow. I know I can wait an extra, but I was hoping to watch a few episodes tomorrow with my dinner.
I thought last night's episode was consistently clever. But the humor was a mix of the more subtle (which I enjoy) and the slapstick (which I also enjoy). Perhaps some of the many allusions that made the subtle humor so brilliant were elusive to many viewers...

I was surprisingly unimpressed with this opening episode. I loved this show last year and was anticipating something better tonight. Too much of it looked like...acting...for want of a better description. They usually are seamless and smooth, but I got the sense of almost choreography. The car scene to me was an example. It was a bit funny, but it looked like each character was obviously hitting a mark or just...acting. Maybe this doesn't make sense, but I was a bit disappointed in the show. It will in no way keep me from watching - it was just that 'off their game' episode that most shows have now and then. Looking forward to next week.

we all expected a great opener, and we end up with a letdown
True, but the show sort of re-introduced everyone to an audience that probably consists of lots of new viewers, sort of a secondary pilot. The show is too important to ABC's ratings and need for prestige for it to have slid very far. I'm not concerned. At least not yet.
I thought Wednesday night's episode was very funny. Joke wise, physical comedy wise---more in line with what I expected from last years episodes.
Jay to Manny when he asks if he can come golfing: "I'm probably going to have a Latino kid carry my clubs anyway, might as well be you."
Cam and Mitchell had some VERY funny lines--of course most of them poked fun at their own lifestyles, but they were funny nonetheless.
Mitchell to Cam after Cam gets angry at Mitchell for telling lies that get them out of going places: "You're like a mob wife. You complain about what I do but you have no problem wearing the fur that fell off the back of the truck."
