Like I said, the idea is sound, but the one time the fugitive perp is cornered and disabled, the good guy is the one on the receiving end of the bullet.

Anyone else think that Sam is actually Neal's father, who has been in witsec or deep undercover since he was shot during a confrontation with a corrupt officer?

I did like the ambiguity of the long con hinted at the end of this week. Next week it appears to be another National Collar: The Forged Document of Secrets. That looks like it could be fun.

Yep, I too thought that Sam is probably Neil's father. The ambiguity concerning Neil's motivation in deciding to reject the thumb drive that Abigail offered him and telling Peter precisely where she was immediately before she was arrested appealed to me too. Like Peter, the rest of us can't really know what drives Neil.

tech specs:
I asked a member of the current production crew what camera they were shooting on and it is the Arri Alexa.

I hope Treat Williams is Sam and Sam is Neal's father!tongue.gif

Given the "twist" announced for the finale next week, Sam not being Neal's father would be more surprising now.

The show is still delivering for me. The past few weeks have all had some fun moments and slick turns. I liked the visual tricks in the National Treasure episode such as the reel stopping when Mozzie was telling his story and the secret society will be fun to bring back. Also fun if they they bring back Perrey Reeves fixer. We also had the return of Alex, Neil impersonating Banksy and some amusing exchanges with Neil, Peter and Mozzie in the bathroom.

This week I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the comedy boxing rehearsal and the very not-comedy in the ring. The case this week was pretty dull apart from that, so the episode needed it.

How many times have Neal and Peter fallen out now? Three? It won't last, those two just cannot stay mad at each other.

Ford won't allow it. biggrin.gif

I thought as the episode was ending they were going to pull an actually unpredictable twist. That Sam was a bad guy and the person who shot Neal's father. The tattooed kid who was beating Sam was actually another son that Neal's father had while undercover and out for revenge.

That would explain how Tattoo managed to gain access to LE databases. Especially if, before he was shot, Neal's father came clean.

Returns tonight!

I actually forgot the show was due to return before fall. Now I'll have to find a recap of the last episode because the posts in this thread have just made me realize how much I have forgotten about whatever convoluted caper they are currently involved in.

Yup. I thought it was going to be a balloon. But the blimp was a nice historical nod.

Up to the usual standards of White Collar hijinks with some good scenes from Matt Bomer. The ending with Peter arrested and Pratt dead I did not expect, but the drama of the moment is kind of undermined knowing that by episode two of next season Peter will probably be in the clear and they will be back to chasing lost masterpieces again.

If anything the new bureau chief should be up on charges for leaving an unsecured Federal-issue weapon lying around to be used as a murder weapon.

Unless that was her plan all along ...

Normally WC does it's thing every week in amusingly comfortable fashion, but killing the new partner? Did not see that coming at all.

Nicely played White Collar, nicely played.

I thought that they were aiming for a series of disguises for Mozzie all season, or for as long as the new handler was around. This would be a source of comedic visual puns for a while, but they surprised me by going in another direction. I was surprised, pleasantly.

It has become a tradition on the show to hook up Neil with a succession of sensationally beautiful women. As much as I have been missing the beautiful Hilarie Burton, who played Sara, the introduction of the gorgeous redhead Bridget Regan, as Rebecca, has served to ease my pangs of longing for Sara quite nicely. smile.gif

The first thing I thought when I saw him lying there was this was a faked death. Seigel knew that Kagen was talking to Neal so I could see them setting up the "death" to free him into looking into what is going on.

The blood definitely looked fake but the previews made it look genuine. It could be a long con, but that would be not only a bit mean to make Neal blame himself for his death but also undermine a genuine shocker of an ending.

Watched this week's episode (nearly) live and really enjoyed it. Elizabeth Marvel, who played the crooked psychiatrist has long been one of my favorite character actresses and it was fun to see Neil in a vulnerable position for a change. Looks like Neil's psychic trauma has convinced him to return to a life of crime. Whatever, I still love White Collar.

I really liked it too. Neil goes through these phases, and somehow he always ends up back with Peter. If they are ending the show I could see him going off on an adventure and Peter chasing him all over again.

Yeah, stylistically and story wise it was an interesting change of case. They really fudged the ending though. It's like they ran out of time and somehow Neal not only found the drugged water but also switched it around before he even sat in the chair.

For a moment I thought they were going to make Jones a full time handler and give him something to do on the show. Nope, foiled again!

I know it's tricky for this show to give Thiessen something to do, but they really should have just stopped at her being jealous of Peter's old partner. Having her insert herself into the case was extremely stupid. Especially as the takedown of the special forces guys was so easy and there were no repercussions at all for the highly classified case becoming a total free for all.

It reminded me of something you would find on Chuck with Captain Awesome's wife accidentally becoming involved in a case, except that show was a comedy first and ridiculous was not off the table.

Pity, up until the last ten minutes the show was doing okay and Neal and Jones having a reason to partner up is such an obvious move now that it makes no sense the show keeps trying to avoid it.

I didn't see that twist coming. But my question is whether Hogan really kidnapped her or she was controlling him. I think the later makes more sense. But then the question, when did that start?

Yep this show just took a really interesting turn with the new traitor Rebecca. I sure do miss seeing her on the old Legend of the Seeker eps, but even more so Cara with that red leather. Mmmm....

I think they're straining now on ways to keep Peter hanging around - it was already a stretch to make him ASAC and keep him handling cases and now he's got to find some reason not to take another promotion to Section Chief in DC? Hmmm.
