Then again WRC was using MiniDV for onboards until the end of last season, though some rallies this year used the Mini DV units. I think this year it is in HD, but I am not sure. I know that Monte Carlo was filmed entirely in HD. Apparently, the F1 biased FiA did not want to spend the money on new HD cameras for the onboards. My source was someone who digitized the footage for the now defunct North One Sport.

WRC will be getting a new promoter next year. Red Bull is said to be the new promoter, but announcement will be made soon. Red Bull will make for a nice promoter. WRC has a deal with the EBU for coverage, but this deal is until the end of the season.

Loeb will be making an announcement by Rally Germany. Loeb will announce his plans for next season. Loeb wants to do sports car and endurance racing, but he wants to do rallies here and there for fun.

Looks like the announcement did not happen. Rally Germany aired on Speed channel last night, and it was in Native HD, unlike the coverage on Velocity/HD Theater. Even the onboards were in HD. Then again, WRC was still using MiniDV cameras at the time Discovery was broadcasting it. Same commentator as the HD Theater/Velocity coverage. I would prefer the Motors TV commentators as they are better than Paul King, but it was not bad. WRC will get a new promoter for next year and the new promoter is rumored to be Red Bull.

Loeb will not defend his title next year, but rather compete for only 4 events with Citroen. Hirvonen will remain on the team, but Citroen will announce another driver for the number two. Citroen also got a sponsorship deal with Abu Dhabi for next year as well, due to budget cuts at PSA.

Hyundai is going to join the WRC in 2014 and Toyota is also rumored to join in the same year as well. Next year is when VW is going to join the WRC, so there will be more than two manufacturers in the WRC. Mini is also trying to get their act together, and compete as a factory team with Prodrive.

You would think Loeb is probably bored by now. How may championships has he won? It's like he's on another level than all the other drivers.

It's good to see other car companies getting involved. Hopefully it won't be that Nascar style rally car crap that is popping up on TV lately. We need real rally racing. And steady TV coverage.

Is there any WRC coverage on U.S. tv for this year?

At this point no but it could change check their website(wrc.com)for updates.

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.
