HDNet Movies Sneak Preview - Experience exclusive broadcasts of new films before they hit theaters and DVD

Red Cliff
Premieres Wednesday, November 18th at 8:00pm, followed by encore presentations at 10:30pm and 1:00am

Starring Tony Leung Chiuwai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Fengyi Zhang. Directed by John Woo

Legendary action cinema master John Woo and international superstar Tony Leung reunite for the first time since the 1992 classic /Hard Boiled/ with this epic historical drama set based on a legendary 208 A.D. battle that heralded the end of the Han Dynasty. RED CLIFF opens with power hungry Prime Minister-turned-General Cao Cao (Zhang Fengyi) seeking permission from the Han dynasty Emperor to organize a southward-bound mission designed to crush two troublesome warlords that stand in his way, Liu Bei (You Yong) and Sun Quan (Chang Chen). As the expedition gets under way, Cao Cao's troops rain destruction on Liu Bei's army, forcing the latter to retreat. Liu Bei's military strategist Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) knows that their only hope for survival is to form an alliance with rival warlord Sun Quan, and reaches out to Sun Quan's trusted advisor, war hero Zhou Yu (Tony Leung). Vastly outnumbered by Cao Cao's fast approaching, brutal army, the rebel warlords band together to mount a heroic campaign unrivalled in history that changes the face of China forever. A massive hit in Asia and the most expensive Asian film production of all time, RED CLIFF is a breathtaking war epic that marks the triumphant return of John Woo.

Wow awesome lineup!! Some great titles to look for - definite blu-ray-buys for these that aren't yet already available!
  • El Dorado - a long-time Howard Hawkes fan - love this Rio Bravo remake (not as good, but still very good!)
  • Bridge Over River Kwai
  • Star Trek: TMP
  • Star Trek II: TWOK (curious to see how this compares to the excellent BLU)
  • Illusionist (currently available on BLU as a VERY expensive IMPORT and so I wait...
  • Count of Monte Cristo
  • Airplane!
  • Remember the Titans

Thanks HDNM!

I'm not crazy!  My mother had me tested...

Are there any plans for HDNet to create a VOD service for HDNet Movies? I know about the VOD that offers rentals but how about a Free VOD offering some of the film highlights of the month.

And to this day, it is still not on any Comcast system anywhere! (Unless it was a on system that carried it prior to a Comcast takeover.)

Wow. Thanks again, ZRoss, for posting and thanks, HDNet, for continuing to show subscribers classic and must-see outstanding films each month, and for continuing to respect the integrity of the films and the viewers by maintaining OARs.

November looks like another stellar month for movies on HDNet.

They are in sections of North Carolina, but not New York City. How ****ed up is that?

RED CLIFF should be cool. It's the version that takes the two films and turns them into one. From what I understand it's a bit of the first film and a lot of the second film.

ONG BAK 2 looked great, but it's obvious that Tony Jaa did leave before they finished the film because the flick has no ending. It needed a better editor because some non-essential scenes go on forever. Great fighting though and amazing sets and locations throughout.

Wow guys. Thanks for all the great responses.
We take a lot of pride in our channel and I hope that we will be available for all of you one day.
Again, thank you for all the support.

Thank YOU for providing one the most indispensible channels available. I dropped Comcast primarily to have acess to HDNet Movies. Needless to say, I've been thrilled with both content and presentation.

I've been watching your channels since April 2008 and I can definitely say HDNET Movies is the best movie channel on t.v., bar none. Keep up the great quality control and variety!

If I had to, I'd drop every other HD channel I get except HDNet and HDNM. Not a whole lot would be lost. Y'all are great .
