Univision will air all games, as far as I know.

They are even going HD for this.

If it were up to me, ABC would carry none of the games. ESPN doesn't have subchannels.

Looks like up to 25 matches will be covered in 3D to be shown in FanFest areas around the globe and in cinemas after a deal between Sony and FIFA.

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/techno...008787.article

Doesn't look like there are Fan Fest areas in the USA or Canada? (They're here : Berlin, London, Mexico City, Paris, Rio De Janeiro, Rome, and Sydney)

I assume this will be HD, or close-to HD, coverage (some 3D 1080i systems used 960x1080 for each eye, sending both feeds anamorphically compressed in a single 1920x1080 stream)

From what I've seen and read Football (aka soccer) and other pitch-based team sports are very "camera 1" based (i.e. traditionally covered from a fixed camera on the centre line, panning and zooming to cover the action) which doesn't offer as much '3D-ness' as some other sporting events. Touchline radio steadicams will be more impressive as you get more depth differences, and have relative movement between subjects and camera.

A combo of ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, and ABC HD will carry the games. ABC HD will have Saturday and Sunday games, along with the Final. ESPN2 will carry a majority of the weekday games, with ESPN jumping in for the knockout rounds.

If you do a google search for "2006 World Cup TV Schedule" you can find how the last one was done and get a pretty good idea.

Game times are (ET) 7:30am, 10:00am, and 2:30pm

It's time to give props to WLNS for the HD crawl generator!!!

Now we need WHTV to go HD and Lansing's CW to get a separate transmitter so it isn't a digital sub.

Based on the current issue of ESPN the Magazine, most broadcasts are on ESPN with 10 additional broadcasts on ESPN2 and two weekend games per weekend on ABC. I believe Univision will carry all games OTA, including HD broadcasts.

Thank goodness Dish added Univision HD. I can pause my DVR and listen to the games in english on internet radio so I don't have to turn on ESPN and put up with that g"dam scoreticker.

What? Support America. It's pretty simple. You can support England later in the tournament when America is out.

Border cities have 2 more options to view games in HD with Televisa and Tv Azteca also broadcasting all of the games. plenty to choose from at least here in El Paso/Juarez area.. all FTA.. only the Telefutura games will be in SD-SoV but those are probably covered by TV Azteca so no loss there.

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

Anyone else find the SmartSearch for World Cup on D* DVRs a bit confusing?

They list games on 210-1 at the same times as on 206 but only some of them have the HDTV badge. They're all suppose to be on HD but I'm wondering if this search is only showing the SD 206 channel?

Comcast just added Univision Telefutura and Telemundo HD feeds. If ESPN has that ticker at least I have a back up to watch it.

Watching the kick-off concert from the ESPN2 live feed via ESPN3 live. It is in HD, it looks like the faded look (24 fps style?). ESPN3 is maintaining the 16:9 ratio, but I can't really say how much bandwidth they are giving for it to be in HD (unlikely enough).

We just got Univision HD (WVEN HD, channel 1018) here in Orlando, FL three days ago. Good timing for World Cup.

And Univision HD World Cup concert sound is way better then ESPN2 HD.

Only the converted-from-PAL SD version of the concert here in Canada, via TLN (Telelatino). The CBC does not pick this up.

Yes. Born and raised Americans who don't cheer for the US team is one of my big pet peeves. Another reason just occurred to me while sitting here watching DC @ Seattle. American soccer players are not very far removed from American soccer fans. More than an other American sport they are us. And that should be cherished. Instead of saying these guys aren't high profile enough we should cheer for them because they are quintessential Americans.

Frankie Hejduk was recently pouring beers at the Columbus Beer Festival. Though he's not on the team this year (and rightly so, at 35 he's finally lost a step) he has represented the USA 85 times and was selected for 3 world cups.

When I was out jogging a couple weeks ago I ran past Robbie Rogers having dinner outside at a local restaurant with other Crew players. No one was bugging him, no media people hounding him, just another guy having dinner. Less than a month later he's one cut away from going to South Africa.

Because US soccer is underdeveloped professionally the players pretty much have to love the game. They weren't plucked from childhood and turned in soccer machines. They are real people who have battled through the pub leagues in the UK (Jay DeMerit) or played on dirt fields in Texas (Clint Dempsey) for the chance to represent America and me as an American soccer fan.

I've spent a few months in London and I like their team but they don't represent me and never could. Your soccer soul is at home. If you are an American and support the US team the joy of success or sorrow of failure is a unique shared experience. You can go to the bar or office and say "My team made me proud today". If you are an American and support another team you miss out on that. There is no "my" team because you are really talking about someone else's team. You think people in Slovakia or South Korea or Brazil support England or Spain because they watch those leagues on TV? No they cherish the kinship and bonds that are created by the shared experience of supporting the people who represent them to the rest of the world.

Also Half Baked is a great movie. To finish the quote I would metaphorically s**k c**k for the US national team. Have you ever done the same for England?

My love is bigger than your love. Sing it!
