Wow, fantastic finale!

The executions (hangings) were extreme. Also, Bo shooting Johnny in the chest with the shot gun.

I liked Boyd's ending line "Only friend in this world left"

Like Dexter, already missing the season.

Yes, I agree, this has turned into one of my must see shows every week. I can't wait til the new season starts and this one just ended minutes ago. I have been very pleasantly suprised with the quality of this series and of Spartacus.

Pretty strong image of Boyd's clan all strung up and shot. Wow.

Now...is Johnny dead? You would think so but they never showed him again after he is laying there shot.

Overall a very strong finish to the season and I will miss it until season 2 starts.

You know, we don't know for sure about Bo, either. They COULD pull a Boyd and allow him to survive. All, in all, a great send-off for a very strong season.

It did look a little like they weren't sure if there would BE a second season, which makes sense since the season was in the can months before that decision was made.

I think Bo is definitely dead. Could be wrong but that is my guess.

I also agree they made the ending that could be used as a season or series finale. Good work both ways.

Interested to see how Winona/Raylan's relationship progresses now that Gary has moved out. I got a feeling that Raylan is going to let her down again.

The very ending, Raylan's hair blowing in the wind, was a lil fruity or for the ladies. ha

Very pleased with season 1.

This is a brilliantly written, produced, and acted show. Funny as hell. Vivid characters - Raylen and Boyd (Tim Olyphant and Walton Goggins) are unbelievable. Great violence. Would be a crime if it didn't get another season - but Boomtown, which was created by Graham Yost, who did this one, too - was also quite amazing but lasted only one season in its original form. Different time, though - Boomtown was NBC, Justified is FX and the ratings expectations aren't the same. Easily my favorite new show this year.

I loved Justified from the beginning and thought that it kept getting better. The dramatic tension created by Raylan being caught in between Bo, Boyd, and the Mexican drug lords was terrific and brilliantly wrapped up. Justified is very well written. I am looking forward to seeing whether this level of excellence can be maintained. If it can, we are all in for a treat next season.

I've been more than happy with the show the whole way through Season 1. Great to see a nice finale, too bad that now we have to wait to get more! Anyone know when it's liable to start back up? In the fall, or later than that?

I must say I was a bit critical ofthe show over the first three episodes or so and I stand by what I felt. However, the show made a complete turn-around after those first few and became one of the best shows on TV. I am very pleased with the amount of Walton Goggins and look forward to seeing more. Gotta love Olyphant as well. GREAT SHOW!

Agreed, the first episode with the little snitch in the bar, I almost checked out. But, a couple eps later they locked into the best run of a show I've seen in quite a while.

A shot of Raylan making a gun shape with his hand and making a gunshot sound with his voice aimed at the Cadillac as it drove away.

Well, he was actually holding his gun, pointing it at the departing Boyd, and pantomiming pulling the trigger. Then he moved it from a shooting position to one where it was just resting on his hand. A fitting and appropriate end to the series had it been canceled - looks like they designed it that way.

Really liked this show, and I steer clear of formulaic procedurals as a rule; not worth my time. But it was almost more of a serialized show since the Crowder subplot acted as such an inclusive and unifying plot thread.

Started watching because I grew up in the Appalachian coal fields of WVa and thought it would "remind me of my home far away", as John Denver once put it. The pilot episode really drew on the atmosphere of that part of the country (although they filmed the rest of it in LA). Very impressed with the clever writing and superb casting. Just enjoyed every minute of it, to be honest. Very much looking forward to the second season.

What I find interesting is that prior to this, after the girl drives off and Rayland fires at her, you can tell he DOES NOT empty his auto (the slide never locks back showing an empty mag.).

Then when Boyd draws on Rayland he tells him that, "he's pretty sure he's empty (he's not), but more importantly, when Rayland asks Boyd if he's gonna "bet his life on that", Boyd replies, " No Rayland, I'm gonna bet my life that you being the only friend I have left in this world".

Boyd enters the car, backs up, they make final eye contact, and Boyd drives off - Rayland then raises and gives his "pow". It seems like he finally accepts that Boyd has in fact - changed.

Now for season 2!

Does cousin Johnny die?
Is Bo dead?
Does Boyd "lose his religion"?
What about Geo?

Well, Here's my Sig!!!

Great show. The season finale was a real capper, both figuratively and literally. Where do we go from here? Maybe a trip to Miami? After all that's Emore L.'s stomping ground. Maybe he'll write a episode. T.O. is very good in this role, better that the on on Deadwood.

I agree that Olyphant has been better utilized as Raylan Givens in Justified than he was as Sheriff Seth Bullock in Deadwood, particularly in Deadwood's first season. I didn't much like the Bullock character back then and blamed it on Olyphant's not being up to the task. Needless to say, I was wrong.

By the way, Elmore Leonard's home turf is Detroit, although he lived all over as a young man. Leonard's father was a GM executive, so the family lived there from and after 1934. Leonard still lived in a Detroit suburb the last I knew.

I think Leonard's participation going forward will be largely of an occasional consulting manner. I doubt he will have much day-to-day input; he's an older guy, he doesn't live in hollywood, and his major contribution (initial story, characters and dialogue cadence) has already happened. The very capable staff of writers has already proven that they can take that ball and run with it.

But, I'm sure Leonard doesn't mind those (well-deserved) executive producer checks!
