Anyways, they're more ruthless than Nucky, who folded very easily. So of course the turnout is kind of predictable.
That was Nucky's nephew and Eli' son they took, using him to trade for Siegel. Yeah I hated the way Nucky rolled so easily.

Yeah, but he did not have much choice at the time and no time to think. Got to go with what works even if it means getting on your knees for a bit

Problem is that the Italians outnumbered the other ethnic groups?

And they stick with each other?

Given what Luciano's guys did to Mickey Doyle when he popped off, I agree that Nucky made the best choice possible by trying to defuse the situation and live to fight another day.

Nucky kidnapped Benny-Bugsy Siegel, then Luciano took Eli's kid as trade, then made them kill Maranzano.
The same Bugsy who fhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugsy_Siegelounded the Las Vegas we know today.

Nucky is old and fed up with all the wars. Chalky gave up after loosing his daughter, and the rest is history, a bit modded by the writers.

While many of us know the history of the real characters, for those that don't they are spoilers and should not be in the open.

While Luciano may have been called "Lucky" .. it is Nucky that has truly been Lucky as far as the murder and mayhem is concerned ..

Lucky Nucky ..

The teaser on HBOgo would make you think Nucky gets it in the end .. his power has certainly waned .. he no longer commands the troops he used to .. Mickey Doyle is gone (not that he was a huge Nucky supporter unless there was cash on the table) .. it's about down to Nucky and Eli, the brothers .. and Eli is a wreck ..

I've skipped over the intro since after the first couple episodes .. I watched it for the first time in a long time last episode and I keep thinking about how those Italian handmade Forzieri two-tone wing tips always come out clean, shiny and new ..

Mention has been made of the actor playing the young Nucky the cop .. who I think does a great job .. but it's also worth mentioning that the young woman playing Gillian Darmody as a girl who does an excellent job and bears a solid resemblance to Gretchen Mol .. IMO, Mol is maybe the most underappreciated actor on the show .. her sins are far more dark than any of the mobsters .. rooted in her early "relationship" with the Commodore ..

The letter from Gillian to Nucky and what transpires (if anything) between then on the final episode should be interesting .. I mean, from the old days, it's Gillian, Nucky and Eli that's left ..

I'm really, really going to miss the show .. it's been a hell of a journey ..

Uncle Willie

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

I agree entirely. The young actress who plays the young Gillian is talented and does indeed bear a striking resemblance to Gretchen Mol. Mol has been marvelous as Gillian, whose life the Commodore ruined when he seduced her as a child and she had a baby at age 13. Then, Nucky murdered her only child. Then Gillian murdered a guy who was posing as her son. Then she was betrayed by a man she had fallen in love with who was really an undercover private detective. Jesus, no wonder Gillian is a mess! Mol did a great job of projecting Gillian's patina of ladylike respectability, while hiding out her batsh*t crazy psyche.

Only two more episodes to go for this terrific show. It will be missed.
