I'm still not feeling this show. It reminds me of Mad Men and why I couldn't get into that show. Historically accurate as far as set design, clothes, etc with great production values, great acting, and great(ish) writing, but a plot that's just incredibly boring with characters I simply don't care about (and that's hard to do with Buscemi leading the way). They're also doing something Mad Men did which irks the hell out of me...nods to the future/intentionally showcasing how different the time period was. Most notably, they did it with the vacuum sweeper, and then again with the dentist (there were other times as well). It's hard to explain, but it feels...unnatural the way it's presented. CarnivÃ*le was set in a similar time period and I never got that feeling. It could just be me and my weirdness...lol.
I'll still watch for a few more episodes though since shows like this need time to breathe. Hopefully it picks up.
Though they really need to stop letting the kids on the show speak. They're awful. Jimmy's son especially. They slap me back to reality quickly and completely take me out of the show.
