First Parker Posey, then, Chloe Sevigny. What other hot alt-chicks can Louie cast next?

Greta Gerwig? Chan Marshall?

I love his manager. That little dude is hilarious unintentionally. There were some really funny bits, like the rant about Amazon reviews, and housekeeping disturbing him, but overall it just had an odd feel to it, which is fine. Apparently there's no new episode next week. Not sure why they're taking the week off. I can only assume they're getting out of the way of the President, or they didn't get the memo that the NFL's opening night is Wednesday and not Thursday.

Louie's ridiculously young agent is great.

Something tells me that the meeting with the CBS exec wasn't too far off from such offers made in the past, with the exec covering his own ass under all possible scenarios being the main priority by far (as opposed to immediately pursuing the very best person for the job). I can easily understand someone like Louie not wanting that job, which would have him fall into the monotonous comedy work life of being on family friendly autopilot each day.

It was great seeing Garry Marshall still working in front of the camera.

I think the grind of doing a daily network show would eventually make anybody dull, even Louie.

I think the grind of doing a daily network show would eventually make anybody dull, even Louie.

But you could tell he was considering it, or at least the Louie on the show was. He couldn't be sure Marshall wasn't correct, that he could be gone and forgotten in a year or two..

Lee Arenberg- supporting pirate in the first two Pirates of the Caribbean, a smart, funny, genuinely nice guy- remarked at Dragoncon on the journeyman roles he takes: ``It enabled me to get a big house.'' Leno banks his salary, lives off speaking engagements, and still has enough moolah to build one of the greatest car collections the world has ever seen. The thought of that much money would give any sane person pause.

But Louis C.K. has bigger fish to fry. He's poised to join the ranks of Jonathan Swift and Mark Twain.

I can understand that, but there's a reason why I watch ONLY Craig Ferguson. He sometimes seems like it would feel it's getting dull, but to start with I'D WANT to watch him even if it's the same thing or dull because he has redeeming qualities I can handle. The other guys either... are clearly not funny, don't deserve their own show, or are dicks. Just in case... :flame suit on:

Louis CK is too weird for network tv. But he's not too weird for Louie. So it'll be cool if the fictional Louie gets the gig and shows us what a late show with Louis CK would look like (CBS tries to lowball Seinfeld; he calls their bluff and they end up hiring Louie in a fit of insane spite. The show goes well at first because Louie reins himself in but slowly he slips and finally crashes and burns. CBS then hires Dane Cook to replace him)

What a brilliant casting decision to use David Lynch. The entire episode was a very amusing display of a person in charge being completely out of touch with just about every aspect of reality.

Although, maybe losing many brain cells by getting your head bashed in on a regular basis is just what's needed to tolerate being a late show host.

Agreed, a great show. One of the most touching moments was the minute or so with his daughters, and the sad and ambiguous triumph of the youngest one.

Really? That felt like the season finale.

My DVR cut off the end. Did anything else happen after he said, letterman, f&&& you?

I'm pretty sure he had to have permission to film the letterman billboard right? He got Chris rock, Seinfeld. Leno, and Letterman to make themselves look like jerks. That's respect from your peers right there!

At the very end, Louie was back at the gym learning to box, further signifying that this whole ordeal gave him confidence in himself.

True, but no comedian is worth a damn if they can't make fun of themselves.

Rock and Seinfeld were clearly willing participants. Leno, too, but I don't think that was a particularly unsympathetic portrayal of him. As for Letterman, I saw nothing in the episodes that would have required his participation or permission.

What strikes me this season is that the show has really established its "surrealistic sitcom" style. There's no attempt here to show how things really happen, but CK gets to the heart of real-life issues by creating live-action vignettes of how things feel when they're happening. Very subtle, and easy to mess up. And impossible to explain to people who aren't already onboard.

Wide Awake

I really would've watched Louis if he was given a late show after this episode. It shows the guy can do it better than the current options... Great Episode.

Oh yeah and happened to see this. lol

Does anyone here understand Chinese well enough to decipher what was being said to Louie at the end? I assume it was all as derogatory as one could imagine.

The very ending was amazing, such unique TV!

I've been told that it was smalltalk.

Thanks. In that case, Louis has once again deviated from the conventions of television and film.

This season was my favorite yet, and that says a lot for this consistently excellent show.

I thought that it was interesting that he returned to the use of ducks as a bridge between people of different culture and language as he did in the Afganistan episode.
