Tyrion is and always has been the most fascinating player in the Game of Thrones. He is brilliant but suffers from dwarfism. Despite his physical disability, he has proved himself to be up to any task facing him. I don't see that changing now.

Yeah, but in the TV show, they gave him a minor scar and left him relatively handsome. In the books, he lost his nose and is hideous to behold. Would he have gotten a job interview with Dany with his face as deformed as in the books?

Did the books have the Dorne story continue like the show is doing now?

The women take over and presumably Dorne is going to be at war against KL.

That's beyond the books.

OK, I kind of suspected as much.

So I guess the show wants to have some confrontation between the Lannisters and Dorne at some point.

That appears to be where its headed. The Dorne stuff is so simplified (as opposed to the books) and stupid that I had to have static pupil surgery to prevent my eyes from rolling into my brain during Dorne scenes.

The latest book isn't even released yet so maybe it is in that one. George did tell them his ending and general notes on what is going to happen in case something were to happen to him so perhaps they are going down that route.

From some of the ground gone over in Sundays episode, I am almost convinced that B&W are taking not only GRRM's outline of books 6 & 7 but some of the material done outside of the main books ..

In the Brienne/Pod/Theon fight scene, what happened to the hounds?

They magically disappeared. I need to re-watch to say for certain, but my impression is they were there threatening to eat Sansa and then mysteriously vaporized when the fight began and the producers realized they didn't want to deal with PETA protests if Brienne had to slay them too...

Or maybe the dogs were smarter than their human handlers and knew their side was about to lose badly and beat a hasty retreat into the woods?

For most of the fight there is one soldier with the dogs who stood guard over Sansa (they can be seen over Theon's shoulder in several shots). At the end of the fighting they are just gone. I just assume that the guy with the dogs took off when he saw the rest of his group get wiped out.

They can't be so STOOPID as to let anyone/thing escape from that fight.

I thought it was funny that Theon was worried about the dogs when they turned out to be Bloodhounds. I have a Bloodhound and with those flappy lips they are more likely to bite themselves than a person.

Kind of difficult to really control everyone when you're busy fighting. What are they going to do? Chase after them and leave the person they are aiming to protect alone?

Yeah, I mentioned the dogs just being trackers, not fighters to someone else and then he reminded me of what Theon said. Those were definitely not the same dogs from season 4 that he must have been thinking of.

Just a "by the way" kind of thing... Why did they even need dogs to track through the snow? I mean, really?? Soaking wet, dripping clothes, walking through snow???? That trail would have been visible from space!!!

1) It is faster to track with dogs. 2) What if it snowed again?

Why is it "faster"? You have to control the dogs. And if it snowed again, there would be fresh tracks. They were less than an hour behind.

I wondered where the dogs went, too. I bet they were CG dogs (like the Hardhome dogs) and they ran out of kibbles and (cough) bits.

The only surprise with Jon Snow was that it happened now and not in the next ep or 2.

The Night's Watchmen were hilariously pathetic against the wildlings. It took all of 5 seconds for them all to surrender.

The part I really liked was Tyrion releasing the dragons. HBO did a naughty thing with the previews actually adding fire to a scene in which there was no fire.

Also nice were the scenes with Tommen with Jamie and Cersei.

A bit of Bran and the previews look like we will see the Tower of Joy next week. I've been waiting for that.

Jon still probably doesn't know who he is yet. Not sure whether it was Mellisandre or Ghost that brought him back.

Arya stuff still not interesting yet.

Tyrion needs a new comic writer. I think his jokes about Varys' lack of a tool is getting dull.

Roose Bolton had to know that his son would want to kill him sometime. He also had to realize that if he had a son that Ramsay would think that would be the right time. Had to admit that I knew Walda and child's fate. I told my family that Ramsay's new brother's name was "Dogfood".

I think, aside from Jon Snow coming back, the scene with Tyrion and the dragons was my favorite. He's knowledgeable about a lot of things most people don't know, because he had to develop his brain. That one line, "that's what I do- I drink, and I know things" cracked me up. And he does seem to know a lot about dragons. I was pretty appalled when Dany locked them away and left them. It'll be fun to see what happens next with them. I think a lot of roasted Harpy might be on the menu.

Sooo, since Tyrion was immediately trusted by the dragons (and he set them free), does anyone foresee him being one of the three heads of the dragon? Wouldn't that be fun!

Also, since they've now introduced Euron Greyjoy, and (in the books) he has a horn that can control dragons, do you think that part of the story will be in the series? I really detested his character in the books. In fact, I don't like much about the Ironborn, although, it was nice to see Theon finally admit to his crimes. Perhaps he'll get redemption this season. I reeeeally wish the release date of book 6 would hurry up and get here!

I think most people don't like the ironborn sections. It's obviously required for later if we have to see it. Dany is gonna need those boats.

I don't remember which person is which from the books. The younger brother we saw on the bridge was the same one sailing to Dany in the books, or was it another one?

Oh, I never thought about that. But yea, since the fleet was set on fire, they will need ships from somewhere.

I think Euron was the one with the dragon horn, and Victarian was the one setting sail for Dany. (I looked it up, and Euron actually gave the horn to Victarion to bring the dragons back.) But there's a lot of bad blood between them, and me thinks a double cross is eminent. Clearly they both want to be Dany's master and rule the world. The only way I see that happening though is with that horn, because otherwise the dragons would likely roast them and eat them both. I don't think any man will ever rule Dany.
