+1 to the comment about thinking and brains. Most shows I enjoy (NCIS, NCIS LA, Hawaii Five-O) I can pretty much know what's going on with the TV on in the background. Rubicon actually required WATCHING - and required thinking!

I have all of the episodes on the DVR as I elected not to watch until I knew if the series would be cancelled. My question is "Should I watch the show or not". Thanks for the advice.

ITs totally up to you. IMO its worth a watch, but you may get fustrated with the end episode as it left some things open in case they did get renewed. IMO it was a great series even if the pacing was slower then what most people are used to.

I just watched all 13 episodes these past two days so to anyone who has it on their DVR I recommend watching it. The ending for the most part is summed up so you do get answers to most of the questions. I really agree this show is good but you need to pay attention. I tend to surf the web or play with my iPhone a lot when watching many shows but this one needs 100% of your attention. It's really a shame they canceled it, was there any talk of another network picking it up?

Anybody know where copies of this show can be found. AMC says no DVD is planned, and as for scheduling it for reruns, they say "not on the schedule for the next 4 weeks".

I have found it streaming on AMAZON, but nowhere else.

Any ideas?

Rubicon IMO was brilliant in the beginning then fizzled out. Here are 2 reasons for my opinion that come immediately to mind.

1) David's assassination at the beginning is elaborately arranged to look accidental by rerouting commuter trains to collide, killing hundreds to cover up the fact that he was the only real target. That was brilliant.

Toward the end when it comes time to assassinate Will, the best they can come up with is to send a third-rate derelict hit man to his apartment that our unskilled hero has little trouble overpowering. To me that was about as lame as it gets.

2) In the beginning Will notices fascinating patterns in crossword puzzles published around the world, hinting at a widespread shadowy conspiracy. Brilliant.

Toward the end, the "vast global conspiracy" wasn't much more than a few geezers sitting around a card table in the same room. Lame.

I think one of the problems is that, after cancellation, they tried to wrap everything up in a finale episode that was necessarily compromised. Given good ratings, strong network support, early renewal and a chance to build to a normal season finale, I think things would have been a lot different -- and better. The conspiracy probably would have been more "robust".

But then, if you think about it, aren't most large acts of evil, wars, etc. throughout history started by a few geezers sitting around feeling slighted about something the rest of the population doesn't give a rats patootie about? Happens all the time.

But we'll never know how good it could have gotten. Shame. I loved that show.

I agree that having to shift gears to wrap up didn't help. And I'm not saying the conspirator group was unrealistic, just nowhere near as interesting as the initial hints suggested...

Anyway I brought it up now to defend AMC's new pattern of short pilot seasons like Badlands because I think that might have given Rubicon a much better shot at a S2 along with the time and resources to sustain the brilliance it started with. JMO of course...

Holy thread revival Batman!

Rubie was way too involved for the average TV watcher, IMO.

I agreed with Mo Ryan in that no show with a character named Truxton Spangler should be cancelled.

I always had the feeling this show didn't sit well with people in high places and was the real reason it got canceled.

Rubicon kept half of its initial 2M viewers, which today would probably earn it a S2. But it was only AMC's 3rd original series and apparently didn't meet their unrealistic expectations set by MM and BB. I think TWD also started that year and of course greatly exceeded expectations, putting Rubicon at a further disadvantage.

Thanks to the recent posts to this thread, I reviewed it. I'm almost sorry I did. I was reminded of how smart Rubicon was and how much I enjoyed it. Sigh, no wonder it got cancelled.
