Yeah, but no one ever even pulled one out to try it. They apparently all left their cell phones at home.

I believe it was Johnny Carson who used the line "Buy the premise, buy the bit..." I don't buy the premise. They attacked a police station just to save one dirty cop? Killed how many people? That one cop was not expendable? He couldn't just leave the country will all the cash he had accumulated?

Really in truly bad writing, they should be ashamed.

Wow TNT is acutally advertising this as "the most popular show ever" in tv history. would love to read the fine print on that boast.

You can bet the corporate lawyers proofread that one.

I think it is very selective how they word these things... so it probably is technically true as written...

For example...

"Bad Teacher" is currently being advertised as the summer's #1 comedy. Really? Or is it just about the only comedy in theaters this week?

I think this show was the #1 new drama of last summer... because I think it might have been the only new drama last summer

It's still an odd show. I really like the leads, and some of the supporting characters... but the show is sort of "meh" to me most of the time.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

It would seem to me that being #1 is pretty easy. The show just has to be at the top of a list, any list. For example, earliest debut on a Tuesday night. No. 1 show to be based in Clevland, etc, etc.

Watched it ... it seemed a bit over-tuned to a different "demographic" than mine. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That is the way I see the show, too. Nothing really unique with the seemingly two best buddies despite their personality differences. I see the show is trying to cut back on salaries with the plot line of Rizzoili's parents getting a divorce, and assume we won't see Chazz Paminteri, anymore. I noticed on IMDB.com that he was only in 4 episodes last season.

Yeah, I have no idea why we need that sub plot.

Actually, I'm liking this year a lot better than last year, I can't really put a finger on it, but the chemistry among the crew seems more natural or something. I'm surprised how well I'm enjoying the show this year. I probably wouldn't have even watched if it wasn't set up as a season pass on the DVR and I ran out of shows to watch and checked it out.

I am enjoying Rizzoli & Isles a lot this year, too. Last season, I thought that Sasha Alexander's Maura Isles was written as little more than a nerdy clotheshorse. This year, though, she has been a lot more interesting and the chemistry between the two beautiful and charming women has been a lot of fun. I loved the scene in the garage and the ploy the girls used to get the handsome but crude mechanic off of Maura's case. Funny stuff!

I generally agree with the folks that think this season so far is improved over last season.

Also.. I'll go out on a limb and say that last night's episode may have been the best episode of either season so far.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

You know... it has been right in front of me the whole time...

but I just realized that Rizolli's partner was Cyborg on Smallville.

I can't believe I didn't realize that last year when the show first started.

In the season opener, Rizzoli fired a Desert Eagle w/ one hand. Must not have been a full load since the gun didn't wind up in her face. eek.gif

I haven't seen the episode so I don't know, but there are Desert Eagle's chambered for more than just .50 AE. 357 in a gun that big wouldn't be all that bad. I've fired exactly one magazine from a .50 AE that my somewhat crazy uncle bought, years ago. Its a painful experience. And this is coming from someone who has no problem with .45 ACP.

I was going by what I saw on a gun show on either History or Discovery channel where experienced guys were introduced to the Desert Eagle .50 and even tho using both hands, they all wound up w/ the gun over their head. Didn't know about a smaller caliber version.

I am glad to see the Rizzoli & Isles back. I enjoyed the first episode of the season and am looking forward to more. Although the episode was quite a bit of fun, I identified the IAD cop as the dirty one in the first few minutes of the show. That's a more serious indictment for obviousness than might be apparent at first because I'm ordinarily not especially good at figuring out who done it.

This show is almost the opposite of Law & Order.

Law & Order prided itself about being about the case and not the characters most of the time.

Rizzoli & Isles is more about the characters than the case. Yes, there is a case to solve and they don't give it all to you at first... but the show seems to be more about the main characters than it is about solving a case. I find a lot of episodes have an easy solution or give it away pretty early.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Lee Thompson Young, who played Det. Barry Frost, was found dead today, reported so far as a suicide.

So sad, RIP Lee.

That is completely out of left-field. I honestly can't recall hearing anything about him outside of his acting roles... by which I mean he seemed to be a private actor, staying out of the limelight. It must be really weird for everyone involved on the show to have something like that happen while you are filming an episode.

I'm not downplaying someone dying in the off-season... but at least you have some time to grieve before work is upon you... but when it happens right in the middle of working, that has to pretty much stop everyone in their tracks and not sure how to go on.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

It was, as I thought, really weird watching tonight's show.

Another thing that strikes me... this show vs what the cast of Glee is dealing with... Glee is at least a mostly positive musical fun-fest... once the major grief and shock has been absorbed, I can see the cast and crew seeking the solace of doing the work and losing themselves in the show.

But a crime show? Where they find gruesome murder victims? I would have a harder time going back to that as escapism in my day job after losing someone close.

I don't know how many episodes are done... they played a promo for next week so I'm assuming that one is in the can... but I would not be surprised at all IF they cut this season short and only showed what they have already completed... and then decide how to move forward on a longer-than-usual hiatus.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

I figured there weren't many more episodes in this season, anyway. I thought they only did 12 or 13 episodes, and I think last night was the 9 episode of the season.

Don't forget there always seems to be a mini-season in December for TNT shows, A lot of them are back after Thanksgiving.

There was a surreal moment this week... and I'll describe it without giving the plot away.

I was just thinking, as I watched, how it still felt weird watching and knowing "Frost" was no longer with us... and then as they were watching a video of the crime scene... Jane says "This is hard to watch" and she turned away from the video and directly towards Frost.

It was a very eerie unintentional mirror of real life and it had the mental effect of looking into a reflection of a reflection of a reflection into infinity as I found myself in that moment thinking, "yes this is hard to watch"...
