I firmly believe that the next administration should consist solely of the members of this thread. Of course, I'll be Pres, using my Presidential alias "Guy Caballero". Naturally, I'll have to put Archi in an oxygen free headlock for ten or so minutes, but he'll come around. I'll install him as HMFIC of Hot Italian Girl Exchange Students or something, where I'm positive that he'll not only excel, but become fully self actualized and content.

The Negan character is a rather typical Hollywood creation, we have seen "him" countless times before. I think his backstory might be more interesting than the man himself. We shall see.

After watching The Talking Dead I was surprised by Kirkman and Gimble's comment that they planned these deaths almost two years ago. Gotta give them props for planning that far in advance on where they want to go instead of winging it.

I don't know if I want to give them credit for that. The plot has progressed at a rather glacial pace since then. In the world of TWD, the plan wasn't as impressively that "far in advance" as it would be in other series.

They "skipped" the cold season years ago - when they were at Herschel's farm. They simply did a time jump.

Maybe we are to presume they skip ahead all the time. Personally, I don't care (it's a TV show).

I agree. As a film villain, Negan is not in the same world as Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal) or even Wilson Fisk (Daredevil).) It's not the actor, it's the role. You are probably right that a telling of some of Negan's backstory might make him more interesting than he is right now.

It is. Well, cold anyway. Never see the snow granted, but you've seen their breath in many episodes so you know it isn't exactly warm all the time.

Issue 100 was published in 2012 so really 4 years ago. Abraham's death was actually delayed but inevitable as they're using the comics as a template. I don't read comics but issue 100 was pretty much spot on as far as Glenn's demise from the summary I read.

At least Fear you don't have to worry about reading ahead since it's not based on a comic book, too bad the characters are uninteresting.

Kirkman has stated many, many times that he's not going there. As he said on Startalk, "it's here, deal with it".

He doesn't want to get into the science or medical aspect of it because people will endlessly look for or find flaws in it.

Between Kirkman and Gimple, there is no doubt a LOT of planning that they don't share with even the other writers. Steven and Michael likely didn't know until sometime late into the end of the last filming session(s).

I also think there is a significant difference between Rick's group killing and Negans. Even on the offensive, Rick's group believes they are doing what is necessary to survive. Negan is a conquerer, looking for more and more. Plus he appears to want his followers to worship him.

I think it will turn out to be a mistake taking Darryl.

Although I hated the episode, I have to say this is the most enjoyable discussion I've participated in at AVS. Wether you liked it or not, wether you thought it was too graphic or not, believable, not believable, I'm finding all these viewpoints interesting.
It was tough to watch I agree but its nothing thats not in the comics. I disagree about the guns to heads - hed seen skulls bashed in and he either takes his arm or watches carl lose his head.

That sounds lazy to me.

He doesn't think people will like the answer? Then come up with a better answer.

The problem is, he hasn't remained consistent with his own universe, so he can't. For example, at the CDC, it was specifically shown that, as a zombie, only the brains stem was keeping the body upright and mobile. The rest of the brain was inactive. Yet, we see that any sort of head trauma "kills" the zombie, not just destroying the brain stem.

Further, there still has been no explanation for the mysterious traffic jam on the highway where people obviously have died suddenly for some reason, not related to being zombies. How did those people die?

Look, plenty of zombie plots have involved anything from a viral outbreak to the original cause from "Night of the Living Dead", which appeared to be some sort of meteor strike of mysterious origins. We accept the cause because it's the cause they come up with and remains consistent throughout the movie or TV show.

Kirkman can't come up with a scientific reason because he failed to plan for one from the very beginning.

They have the old school push/non-electrical mowers they use along with all the other up keep they do to try and keep this looking like a community. They talked about how they were stuck in the old ways, and not concerned with the zombie outbreak (before the Wolves attacked of course).

They were in areas that don't get snow (down south). They then time jumped, and are now in Alexandria, last season took place in the summer months. This season starts at the end of last season. They haven't shown us the cold months yet as they haven't been there long enough without the time jump.

Watch it again. He specifically tells his men to point their guns so that the bullets exit at their nose area.

Out of curiosity if nothing else! After all, this is the reason we have the show to begin with - the zombie outbreak, or whatever it is! I'm curious!

I wonder how long a show based on the cause or the CDC trying to nail down what happened and trying to reverse it would actually play out and hold our interest? Eventually the dead will rise and turn into the other 2 shows. Interested just the same though.

If the ratings were poor, they'd map out an end to the series, probably with some kind of resolution.

I'd like to see an epilogue to the ZA, never mind the prequel.
