My guess is ole Ed lives on the islands, so it's an easy role for him to play again. He certainly looks his age now.

Ed actually lives in Studio City in the San Fernando Valley. He may very well have a go to place in the Islands though. It's really only a 5 hour flight from LA to Honolulu.....

So did anyone watch the crossover 2 parter? I enjoyed the Five-0 part one. The second part was on NCIS: Los Angeles. I didn't like that show when it started, and I still don't like it. It felt like the air was let out of the balloon when the focus shifted to NCIS:LA. The contrived "chemistry" is still as lame as it was when the show began. I think Alex O'Laughlin is back for the last 2 episodes after his recent rehab sting for painkillers.

I haven't watched either one yet. Like you, I am not a fan of NCIS:LA at all, and I hate these silly crossovers that try to get me to watch another show.

ALthough its not as if NCIS:LA needs to troll for viewers, but I assume many H50/CBS watchers are tuning in for both.

I too do not watch either NCIS, but do watch H50 - despite it being the "silliest" drama I tune in for (much how I used to say ST:TNG was technically more realistic than Bev Hills 90210, I find something like FRINGE to be more "real" than H50, even on FRINGE's most far out day). But I like the lead actors & it is generally nice HD eye candy.

That said....would I really be missing anything if I just skip this NCIS tie in twosome & return to McGarrett & Co next week when there is zero chance of an LL Cool J appearance?

I don't think you would miss anything as it didn't contribute to any arc plotlines going on in H50. But the first part was good. The second part was meh.

I watched H50, but didn't watch the finale on NCIS because that would have meant a double DVR record and my hockey team was playing then in the playoffs. That and I don't watch either of the NCIS shows, so aside from wanting to know the outcome, I didn't feel like I was missing much. To be honest, I really only like crossovers when they involve two shows that I watch.

That said, if this guy that Chris O'Donnell killed who was apparantly a big part of his storyline, I found it strange that they would have him end that on another show. One would think they'd leave that final showdown for their own show.

We watched the second part and it was flat awful to me, I hope they don't pull this stunt again. Way too much goofy cop partner gibes and way too many characters on NCIS, plus it was (if anything) even more unbelievable than 5-0 with what they were doing.

I watched both and The NCIS:LA part stunk. I watch H50 but not NCIS:LA. This crossover reminded me of when CBS did this back in the 80s with Magnum PI and Simon & Simon. I loved both shows and the crossover was great.

My wife and I also both enjoyed each of the parts of the crossover episode.

I thought the season finale was excellent. The huge twist in the Shelburne story surprised me. With the season finale ending with a cliffhanger, it definitely left me wanting more. I can't wait until season 3.

I thought it would have been either of the parents.

I actually thought it was going to be the father because I couldn't remember anyone actually seeing the body after he died.

This is what I thought too.

Re: Chin Kelly, I was hoping the wouldn't pull the "who will he save" plot, but I guess they did. Had a "Dark Knight" vibe to it. I'm sure that has been used in other movies and TV shows.

Excellent episode overall.

For 5-0, a very good episode:
Tom Sizemore dies, as he always does...
The "Hit lady"... Was she from "The Event"???? Pretty Bad A**
Billy Baldwin, always good....
Lots of things hanging at the end... Terry O' Quinn just got a new series so maybe he is gone too???

Kono was the first main character in the original series that got dropped, so I wonder if Kono (Grace Park) maybe out now on this one too.

Season 2 to be released on Blu-ray

Damn, CBS Studios might be finally taking their heads out of their asses. It was announced that the second season of the series will also be released on Blu-ray (9/18/12). The first season, like most of the CBS Studios productions, was only released on DVD.

Maybe, just maybe, they'll go back and release the first season on Blu-ray as well. They went back and released the seasons of The Big Bang Theory that were DVD only.

The first season of Hawaii Five-o was released on blu ray. It was a Best Buy exclusive at first, but not anymore. You can buy it there or on Amazon.

Right you are. I missed the announcement on TVShowsOnDVD about it going wide on Feb 7th. The original release date was Sep 20th.

TVShowsOnDVD has a policy of not mentioning brick-n-mortar exclusive releases, and are encouraged by the industry to not mention them.

On Jan 10th, it was officially announced that it would be available to everyone. I missed that announcement.

Well, that just dashed hopes that other shows will get Blu-ray treatment. I guess their heads are still up their asses. mad.gif

Anyone watch tonight? I don't tune in for deep drama, but tonight's episode has to set a record for total implausibility. The prison transfer heist is so over the top that even Leverage would not do that. I already predict the season ender, McGarret finds out Wo-Fat is is half brother.

Bad writing. Same with Castle tonight too, very convoluted and over the top.

this show has definitely jumped the shark with that lousy cgi helicopter snatching Wo Fat, and that highway gun battle was pretty laughable with the animated muzzle flashes and cg ejected cases (Person Of Interest does animated flashes mostly now too, presumably for safety reasons.)

I didn't see it, but I'm not surprised to hear that it was a terrible effect. The show got cheap and changed effects teams. They used to use the same company that does the effects for Game of Thrones, supervised by a 3 time Emmy winner who previously worked on ST: Voyager, Babylon 5, and Lost. Now they use the company that creates effects for such powerhouse effects driven shows as Weeds.
