2. But like the original (which has somewhat faded from the original concept) this focuses more on the suspect and his thought process as opposed to the crime itself (CSI series) or a general procedural (NCIS's).

In case you don't record or your DVR is deficient, Blue Bloods is moving to Wednesday nights at 10pm starting Jan 19, 2011.

CBS has been doing a lot of ads for the time change so I'm interested to see what ratings do.

Over 12 million viewers on Wednesday night, the most since the pilot episode so the move helped some.

Really liked the episode this week. However, the guy playing the mayor is terrible. Really hope he gets defeated in the election he keeps talking about that is coming up....if they ever actually get to it.

The casting for the Mayor is great! He plays a great jerk-off. You're supposed to not like him - it worked!

I really like this show but don't care for the way Selleck plays his role. He's too stiff, makes for an unlikeable know-it-all. In this last episode I know he felt a lot of pressure to solve the missing boys' case but he was too tough on everyone especially his assistant. The less Selleck the better the show.

^^^ It does seem like he's gone a bit to far to try a appear to be cerebral and deliberate. The whole show has rough edges but it's still not bad.

I disagree. Selleck's character is an old-school cop who didn't search out to be the police commissioner. He's also carrying some grief with the passing of his wife and the death of a son in the line of duty. He's supposed to be a tough, but fair cop. I actually liked seeing more of him in last week's episode.

Actually I thought this week's episode was probably the best one Selleck has had so far. Some of the others he seemed to mail it in more.

Having lived with a Washington DC cop, (my dad), who was never emotional but yet loving in his own way, I would rate Tom Selleck's performance as stellar.

One of the most moving tv scenes I have seen in a long time was the scene where he spoke at the funereal of a fallen police officer and, though he managed not to cry, his voice broke and his eyes watered briefly as he held himself together.

good 1/2 punch for CBS on Wednesdays now: Criminal Minds and Blue Bloods. Two of my favorite shows..At least Selleck's commissioner character doesn't run around crazy for every case like the old McMillan & Wife series played by Rock Hudson and Susan St. James..

As much as I love this show, I have to say I thought last night's episode was one of the weakest ones they have done so far. Maybe I just wasn't into it. Some of the things with Danny being asked to investigate the shooting didn't line up.

The whole storyline with Jamie seemed a little odd and got even stranger when the other detective from several episodes just suddenly appeared to chat. I'm sure they'll tie it all into the Templar storyline, whenever they decide to dedicate some actual time to it.

Another thing bout this show is the casting. Selleck looks older than his dad on the show. In real life he's actually only 6 years younger.

Agreed about the below standards episode. That said I love the show because it's one of 2 shows I can watch with my wife.

Oh, and Tom Brady shoulda stuck with Bridget.

Needs to quit coloring his hair and mustache. Wife watched 1 episode with me and the first thing she commented on was that. You're 65 showing your natural hair color is fine.

Blue Bloods regularly pulls in 10-12 million total viewers (that's the type of numbers the new Hawaii Five-O pulls in). Unfortunately, the show's viewers tends to be older and are not those that the advertisers want. Therefore, Blue Bloods' total viewership may be tops in its time slot, but its actual ratings is kind of in the cellar.

This has become one of my top 5 favorite shows and the first one that I look for on my TiVo Now Playing list.

I'm fascinated with Whalberg's and Selleck's characters and I'm particularly impressed with scenes where Selleck tears up (which seems to happen every other episode). It's completely believable to me!

As others have noted, I'm apathetic towards the Blue Templars plot.

Outstanding episode tonight. The emotion of Danny was definitely felt. The burial scene at the end was very touching.

It's interesting how they have obviously examined two plot lines that were initially planned to be major sub-texts and now eliminated them both. The Templars line and the original romance/conflict story with Selleck's character and the reporter played by Andrea Roth from Rescue Me. Despite these shows being written and filmed well in advance, they clearly test these plots and find the ones that work and those that don't and tweak or eliminate them mid-season. Sort of like the Boyd plot in Justified. I'm glad they are able to do it, because in all 3 examples, I think the right moves were made - keeping Boyd in Justified, and eliminating the two plots in Blue Bloods.

Agreed. They've really made some smart decisions and the writing and stories have been outstanding lately.

Well I think back before the season started there was a report that Selleck was butting heads with the show runner or head writer and they changed the staff mid stream. So I'm assuming the 'new' people that were brought in were not on those 2 plot lines.

I think they're trying to build something between Selleck's character and the mayor's aide (brunette) but they are slow playing that for now.
