The first show after some time off for the series and......utter complete crap.
A show about 18 Wheelers....the whole show....really....not making it up.
And I thought the new Autoweek show was the worst "car show" going....

Wasn't this another idea that Top Gear UK did way back? The one with Hammond transporting a car, Mays carrying a cake and Clarkson carrying bales of hay which set the trailer on fire?

We already have shows like that for the knuckle-dragging crowd.
I was under the impression Top Gear was for a different audience.

Next Week's Teaser for 2/21 sound firmilar?

Which is the best modern muscle car? Adam, Rutledge and Tanner fight it out on the way to a high speed attempt at a NASCAR track, and Rutledge takes Tanner into the Utah desert to prove how fast their new mustangs are in a relay race against horses.

So I guess it's going to be remake season with budget cars?

They should be able to come up with some original challenges even if they can't travel to Europe every other week. NASCAR vs IndyCar drag race, driving through LA at rush hour race, airboat vs road car, Route 66 challenge in a piece of crap, join the Gumball ...

I WANT to like this show. It's just basically dumb, and weak, and I'm being generous, imo. Big story in yesterday's LA Times Calendar section. Of course anything with Tanner Faust has no chance of being any good, again just mo.

I want to like this show too, and generally do. I think it is much weaker than TG UK, but it is watchable IMO.

Sadly and amazingly... I'd be lying if I didn't say that was a decent episode, in TG USA terms of course. Love Warburton too. Now to watch a real TG episode...

Pretty obvious in that ep that they wanted all the cars to win one of the events, especially when Tanner got DQ'd for the stupid splitter.

And the Mustang race against the horses was just beyond dumb, but whatever.

My take on this show... It isn't bad, but it is nowhere near as good as Top Gear UK. Clarkston, May, and Hammond have some of the best chemistry. Nothing seems forced and most stunts are actually funny.

Most of the time the US show seems like I have seen this before, but slightly different and better.

Yep, that's pretty much my take too. It's a pale imitation of TGUK mostly because of the chemistry, but also because a lot of the stunts are not as well done (or thought out). They also don't seem to have near the budget that the UK crew has, but that's understandable given the popularity of their show.

I'd be lying if I didn't say the Train Wreck seems to be getting better and better. They keep doing stupid **** like the newest episode and it will be near "Dumbest Stuff on Wheels" territory which I ABSOLUTELY @#$%ING LOVE.

The US version has had some excellent PQ. That bit where the pony-cars were racing horses had some nice vistas.

OT: That DumbestStuffOnWheeels is funny for the first few eps, but after that, they all seem the same. It's like YouTube stuff where the guy's on a skateboard and you just know you're about to cringe (especially when titled, "Look Ma, No More Teeth" or "Who Needs Testicles?").

Two would seem to be two too many to me too.
Sarcasm is the sincerest form of flattery.

The Corvair was a 1962 model. My first car was a '62 Monza coupe just like it except mine was blue. Drove it over 4 years and never had a handling problem. The trick was to use the factory recommended tire pressures--15-18 psi front, 28-32 rear. They did oversteer, but that was actually fun on a mountain road. I drove the thing in the mountains around Yosemite two summers in a row. Loved to get into impromptu road races with GTOs and Brit sports cars--could easily lose them in the twisties if I could just get around them, despite it's meager 102hp engine and two-speed Powerglide.
