A few comments regarding the season finale:
*Frank really in love with Bianca and I think for the very first time he was shown as really caring for another person. That was a sad moment when he realized that she was really gone.
*Fiona is really attracted with guys with Baggage. Choosing Sean over Gus. She never gave the relationship with Gus much of a chance to flourish....
*LOL moments: Sammi chasing Mickey with a gun and the police chasing them. One of the end quick shot of Karl and Chuckie as the "leaders of their respective gangs. "The Rape Walker" trying to remember how many coeds he "assisted"
*That was a great scene when Amanda confronted Lip at the library...
*Is Debbie really pregnant: I think she is as we saw her smiling when seeing the results and she sees that as the ticket to be a member of a real family.
Agree it was a good season. I think Debbie is pregnant and from the way she went to joy then to concern as the realization hit I think confirms it. Sammi chasing Mickey with the gun was a great way to end. Kevin's poophole loophole explanation was pretty funny. Glad that Ian bailed on Monica, and that he came to accept that he needs his meds. I don't think he and Mickey are through. I liked Deb getting in Fiona's face about Fiona's love life. Looking forward to next season.

Isn't the Lipp character new? Face looks different unless if I'm confused. The guy with the nunchucks?

Wait a minute. I didn't watch most of last season. Maybe that's why.

I've been watching season 5 on Showtime via Hulu. For some reason it wasn't there until an couple weeks back though other seasons were there. This is a series that is better than the original. I watched some of the UK episodes and Paul Abbott seemed confined by a much lower budget. It's like setting the show in the US gives him wings to explore more and Macy makes that character more quirky.

The guy with the nunchucks is Dermot Mulroney who joined the series in season 5 as did Dichen Lachman ("Dollhouse"). The show is a very interesting character study series. You see the shift in the Mick character going from a careless thug to starting to gain some morals and caring about people. You still wonder how Frank can get away with things while Fiona winds up in prison. According to the commentary on the DVDs Abbott likes to explore these things. He even sees Lipp as a reflection of himself.

There are no new characters on the poster. The guy with the blowtorch is Carl.

Looking forward to next season!

I don't think there's a lot of nuance to the characters.

Or growth.

Will Lipp break away from the lower mentality and actually do something with his life, other than to scheme?

Will Frank ever stop being selfish? He'll probably get another liver somewhere, now that he's started poisoning #2 .

The show continually has the Gallaghers screwing themselves over and over, just when it seems they're getting some traction. If somehow they had a chance to become middle class, they'd probably self-sabotage because they're too cool to be middle class.

They'll continue to play up the shock value, like Kevin screwing his mother in law and her liking it because he's so well-endowed.

Fionna looks hot, hot, hot in that promo ..

"Shameless" is appropriately titled .. it's a mindless excursion to a World most don't see, taken to a level of hilarity and ridiculousness that's just so well done and, er, shameless, that I'd watch it year round if a new episode was on each week ..

The song in the Season 6 Trailer is one of my favorites right now, "S.O.B" by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Perfect song for that show :-) Their entire album is pretty good.

What did you all think about the start of the new season? I thought it was good:
* Frank humping in the cemetery
* LOL when he said something to the extent, ".. After all God has only given me 2 livers..."
* Lip is now a T.A. (When did that happened?)
* Carl is bad a%$
* Debbie is really pregnant..
Will be interesting to see how everything evolves....

Watched it a week ago on Hulu. I've been a fan of this series since my days before cable cutting. I also watched some of the original UK series which had much less of a budget. It will be interesting to see where they go with it this season.

Lips booty call professor, Sasha Alexander, can be seen with a lot more clothes on in Rizzoli and Isles...

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Karma comes due and it's how they need to sidestep it. In the real world we know they would probably all be locked away in some prison.

No comments on this last weeks episode?

"We have been voted the best ****tiest bar on the South Side!"

What I found interesting was their running ad for Strand Brewing, which is only distributed in southern California. Either that's an odd miss on the writers' side, or it's an intentional joke.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Kev hipster bar subplot is the only interesting one to me in this season, aside from maybe Lip's dilemma. Fiona has gone beyond the tiresome stage.

Yeah, it's comical how badly they abuse the hipsters and they just keep coming back for more!
And the review quote regarding Svetlana... "the skankiest nastiest Russian bartender" .... she loved it

I really hate to say this, but so far, the first 2 episodes have just felt underwhelming for me .. I don't know if it's just starting to reach the burn out stage or if it's just more of the same .. Franks whining, which had maybe a minute of interest for me, Fiona being, er, Fiona, Lip being, er, Lip, etc ..

Kevin and the Bar as well as Yannis are about the most interesting bits for me so far ..

And with the gentrification of the 'Hood, it makes me wonder if it's being set up as a final season .. ??

Still like the show, it is just not hitting me as hard so far this Season .. too bad Cabrini Green is gone, Frank and the Gang could move there ..

I liked the first episode, the second one, not as much. I wished they had not gone the "Fiona is also pregnant.." path. But, let's see where it goes...

I agree that the Kevin Bar part is the most amusing. I still enjoy the Lip story arc...

3 episodes in and feeling the same way it really feels like this show has run out of gas. I'm still going to watch and hope that it picks up but at this point I'm not really looking forward to it like I used to. Maybe I missed it but we saw Mickey in jail for trying to kill Sammy, but what happened to Sammy? She had a gun and was shooting at Mickey when last season ended. And Chucky is still in juvie so I guess he's gone.

+1

Very well performed.

I like the Carl storyline. He may start studying to impress his female crush.
