Scrawny Frank is going to last that long in a fight against Sean?
And then he's going to hire a hitman instead of spending that money to get high?
There are no consequences in this show. Frank abuses his body for years, gets cancer, gets a liver transplant and is now partying like he did before, even becoming a stud for the geriatric hippies.
Carl goes to jail, gets deep into a gang, then walks away and is going to be a cop.
Deb conspires to become a teen mom, then has the baby. Things are a bit tough now but she'll be okay too probably.
Lip ****s up again in college but I'm sure before the series is over, he's going to do a startup and get a ton of venture capital for something. But that success will be short-lived, because you can't have the family move on up out of the South Side.
These characters are all shown as very smart, yet they keep screwing up and never get out of the hole that they started out in.
That part is true, most people won't get out of the ghetto. But these are brilliant people who should have been the exception. Yet the show runners want to show scene after scene of messed-up situations for entertaining effect, not because they make any kind of sense.
I guess a more realistic depiction of the under class would be bleak and you'd have a bunch of unhealthy, overweight people, instead of these young and beautiful kids who are too smart for their own good, or whatever the writers are trying to say.
