Yeah, a mere 25 years ago we were watching her turn cherry stems into hearts. Now playing a grandmother. Feel old now?

I cracked up at the wedding segment. The preacher dad was so hilarious.

Sasha Alexander was also Kaitlin Todd on CBS's NCIS. She was killed by a sniper bullet to the head. Her character was so well liked and added so much to the chemistry of the show, I wondered how the show would survive. Then there was Ziva.

No kidding. What a job!

I thought this this Sunday's episode was one of the best ones this season so far. I had a good balance of light and not-so-light moments. LOL when Carl told Debbie: "..2 in the "pink," 1 in the "stink"..."

So where is Carl getting all of this supply of drugs? I must have missed that part...

In the beginning of the season he was working for a dealer. I suspect between that and his time in juvi he made some connections.

He was working for a dealer last season as well . When he went to juvie the dealer took care of him which was why he was in with the black guys. Between selling guns and dope he's done okay for himself. Ms. Fenn looks a lot better here than she did a couple of seasons back on Ray Donovan. This season got off to a slow start but it's picked up considerably the past few weeks.

Ah, that's who she is! She looked very familiar and I couldn't think of her name. (and I didn't pursue it.)

The last episode, "Be a good boy, come for grandma" has to be one of the best so far. Had me LOL ing several times. The earlier episodes this season have been kind of so-so but this made up for them. Thought Frank was finally going to get killed off on more than one occasion. And yes, I will pay a King's ransom for that lucky b@%#rd Lipps job!

We have known since the beginning that Frank is a sleazeball. But in this recent arc he has elevated his game to extreme sleaziness. While it's funny I hope he eventually is kicked in the balls by a horse.

Yep..hopefully (...or not?) Frank with a "busted cap" in his ar$e does not end up being the season finale's cliffhanger. At this point anything is possible ; Ian maybe contracting the HIV from his new lover?

Yeah but Sherilynn Fenn playing "grandma" makes me really feel old.

I wonder if Frank will run into the cop that was hot on Fiona as he is running away from the drug dealers which is about the only way he may get out of this situation.

Scrawny Frank is going to last that long in a fight against Sean?

And then he's going to hire a hitman instead of spending that money to get high?

There are no consequences in this show. Frank abuses his body for years, gets cancer, gets a liver transplant and is now partying like he did before, even becoming a stud for the geriatric hippies.

Carl goes to jail, gets deep into a gang, then walks away and is going to be a cop.

Deb conspires to become a teen mom, then has the baby. Things are a bit tough now but she'll be okay too probably.

Lip ****s up again in college but I'm sure before the series is over, he's going to do a startup and get a ton of venture capital for something. But that success will be short-lived, because you can't have the family move on up out of the South Side.

These characters are all shown as very smart, yet they keep screwing up and never get out of the hole that they started out in.

That part is true, most people won't get out of the ghetto. But these are brilliant people who should have been the exception. Yet the show runners want to show scene after scene of messed-up situations for entertaining effect, not because they make any kind of sense.

I guess a more realistic depiction of the under class would be bleak and you'd have a bunch of unhealthy, overweight people, instead of these young and beautiful kids who are too smart for their own good, or whatever the writers are trying to say.

Pretty lackluster finale to a lackluster season. Only real surprise was Frank finding Sean's heroin stash and not using it all himself.

Maybe just me, but this season seemed to lack much in the way of Comedy .. I just do not recall many laugh out loud moments .. I'd venture to say the season was the least entertaining of any we've had ..

The only comedy was the Kevin and V love triangle which was great. I am happy for Ian and that his life has turned around. Carl too. The rest are a mess which doesn't lend itself to comedy.

I actually really enjoyed this season (particularly Carl's story) but the last couple of episodes kind of dragged it down.

I kind of didn't pay close attention throughout the episode.

Why did Frank decide not to kill Sean, because he found the heroin stash? BTW, as horrible as Frank is, homicidal doesn't seem likely.

The toothbrush he stuck up his ass went to Sean's mouth and then Fiona's mouth. Great father.

Lip ****s up college and then gets bailed out by the professor whom he insulted and whose car he trashed. Okay, just like how girls are throwing themselves at him all the time, he gets lucky again.

Carl went from a budding sociopath to a solicitous kid? OK, guess they have to show some reason to be hopeful about these characters.

Ian also spoke up for himself and seems to be on the way to getting his **** together.

But the writers have a tendency to show absurd situations and the Gallaghers always self-sabotage.

If they end the series with all of them growing up and moving on up, it could be kind of a cop out.

I doubt Frank would have ever shot Sean. He's more of a blowhard than anything.

I've also seen the original UK series and I think that Abbott's intent is to show that even how bright and how hard some people try the odds are stacked against them whether it is their fault or not. Frank is the quintessential low achiever who could have done much more in life if he applied himself. Lip's mentor is an example of someone who with substance abuse problems still was able to achieve. If you get a hold of the DVDs of the original series Abbott has some commentaries on them which explain the some of the characters their flaws and strengths.

This show is actually quite deep in examining societal problems.
