Very good beginning for the new Season .. not a bad scene in the entire episode .. although I felt like last Season was a bit dark, so far it looks like the gang is getting back to it's roots .. early start to the season I thought I read somewhere had something to do with the election .. ??

At any rate, glad it's back ..

The scene with the glue sniffer was a bit grim.

I think someone ought to give Frank a really good beatdown.

Since his family already threw him off a bridge into a river left to die I'd say at a minimum he has another beating coming.

They will never kill off Frank. I wonder how many more season that they are going to do. It just feel that it's time to end the series, I like the show enough to keep watching it, but at some point, it needs to end.

I guess they could repeat the same patterns with the younger kids that they showed with Lip and Ian -- blow off school, not care or aspire for something better, just finding a way to get over someone to pay the next set of bills or having a binge session of some kind.

Fiona and Lip have sabotaged themselves but they're not out so maybe they'll work towards something for awhile. Ian is currently doing that as a paramedic who beat odds to get that job. But maybe he'll mess up his relationship and he won't be able to stay on the job either.

Carl was a gangster, wised up and now does everything for his girlfriend. Debbie is now the criminal, discovering a way to fund a upper middle class type of lifestyle (nanny for the kid).

Rinse and repeat.

I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Gallagher's .. in fact, they could spin off a Kevin and Family show and I'd watch it, kind of an R rated "Cheers" .. I don't know if many folks in the mainstream realize that there is a bit of truth to the way the show goes .. there is just a certain undertone of bitter sweetness mixed in with the hard times / comedy / mayhem ..

Over the years, "Shameless" has become one of my favorite shows .. and I say that shamelessly ..

Just bring back Sheila and Mandy .. please ..

I read somewhere that Emmy Rossum wants out of the series and this could be her last season.

Anyone know if this is true or not.

"Rossum was previously reported of her admission in ending her role in the series. While no specific details were provided as to why she came up with the decision, the strong followers of the show are hopeful that she will stay."

Pretty funny when even the owner of Patsy's Pies referred to the place as "that dump"

The scene w/Ian and a woman was painful to watch.

How long till Deb gets caught jacking high-end baby carriages?

I would have thought the "carriage bandit" would have made the 6:00 News by now .. but then again, it is Chicago ..

I'm betting she will get caught by a sting operation and like Carl do some time. Caring for the kid will create more storyline.

Makes sense .. those are some high dollar carriages and likely owned by some well to do moms .. she could do time, but then again, I can't recall if Deb has a previous record or how old she is right now ..

We've essentially watched her grow up on the show ..

That last attempt has likely provided a description for someone the cops are on the lookout for.

Frank leads an army of homeless squatters, just down the block.

What a dumb story line.

Fiona making everyone pay instead of freeloading could be interesting.

I don't get Lip's internship. They're having marathon sessions of playing video games and that's some hotshot startup that he's willing to put up with **** for the experience?

First time they showed it, it looked like they were hiding something because some cops came by.

You figure Lip will figure out the scam and turn the tables on them, though not long enough to become rich or anything.

Watching this week's episode and watching Frank being Frank, I think that William H. Macy is becoming a one note actor. The Cooler was a great movie, but that was in 2003. I know that he has done many other movies after, but I really think that Shameless has tarnished his acting ability.

Something about the show this year seems off.

First of all Fiona is not doing any more naked scenes (I wonder if by request).
I heard somewhere that Emmy Rossum wanted out but I don't see the show without her as she is the small glue that keeps the family together. I don't see who would pick that up.

Second they seemed to be totally glossing over Frank and the transplant. In the beginning they made a totally realistic point out about him taking his meds which are quite expensive BTW.
Now he is basically homeless again and the med thing is being ignored. My wife is a kidney transplant patient and I know if she skips her meds for more than two weeks the transplant will start to fail.

One of the things I enjoyed about renting the original UK series on DVD was Paul Abbott's commentary. He explained a lot about why he created the show and that he sees himself in Lip.

The best season was when Frank and the doctor who had Cancer. That season was well written and had some hope besides clowning around for Frank.
