Agreed. she has taken a role that could have easily been a silly caricature of a crazy person and turned it into a real person.

I was JUST telling this to a friend last night. She'd be a perfect candidate for a supporting actress Emmy.

This last episode finally took the story somewhere. I was getting tired of the frenetic chaos exhibited every week while they were developing character. I was about ready to give up.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

At least its an hour-long drama. Entourage has always felt too short at 22 minutes.

Drama? Well, maybe, but my wife and I consider it an adult comedy. We are in hysterics continuously.

Sorry, slip of the typing-fingers. Indeed a black comedy. I'm just used to things that are hour-long being drama, I guess.

I watched the first disc of season one of the UK version last week. The scripts were surprisingly pretty much the same. There was one major story line in episode 4 that got changed involving Frank in his new household and doing a little checking found out why.

The scene with Fiona confronting her mother was heartbreaking. This show is easily moving up the ranks of the best shows on television.

I'm finding that out, too. Although I do find it amusing that while the US version is basically a direct copy, "they" had to make changes to make sure we don't offend any race/color/creed/beliefs, etc. And where the British version has a line or two to setup something that happened, the US version has to show you to make sure you don't miss it. I can see why some of the folks who have seen the British version were somewhat upset/astonished when they saw the US release. I probably would have been also.

Maybe we need a thread to discuss the British version. The "cable, non-HD tv" forum is probably the best place. However, I'm about at parity now with the US series and I'm still not sure if I want going to "spoil" the US version.

How much of the British series can you watch without ruining the US? I was planning to watch some of the Brit original after the first season of US Shameless concludes. I know British shows have 6-7 episode series. Would I be safe watching Brit series 1? Maybe early episodes of Series 2 as well?

I've watched the first two episodes of the British Season 2 and I haven't seen anything new unless. One thing is missing, but I'm guessing the US series dumped it. Won't know till I see more of both.

Given the discs are in my Netflix queue and I have a "one out" subscription I will be behind "any" of the US episodes on Showtime. The first season of the UK version was only 7 episodes and reading the synopsis of both we go into the second season of the UK version for remaining episodes on Showtime stopping at a logical point.

I think the reason why the UK ruins the US version is because the characters do such a great job with their parts, namely the UK Frank. Don't get me wrong, William H Macy is great and all, but the bar was set so high to start with the US version is going to be a bit underwhelming to start with. Then as Pooper said they made the US version so that we could understand and relate to our way of life which is expected and not necessarily a bad thing. Both are great in their own respect.

I think my fav is Shelia (both UK and US) or Frank (UK).

Anyway, I'm getting towards the end of season 7 and ugh... lol

Need to find the song that starts when Monica and the black butch is leaving. It's toward the end of the episode.

How do you make it through a episode of shameless if you find that remark offensive?

Im not even sure whats offensive about it. Is it vulgar, Homophobic, sexist?

Quite right. The cluck-clucking of political correctness is generally bearable (in an amusing way), but in regards to this series it's downright absurd.

LOL, oh really? christ... Actually, I can see why. I would've guessed the black part before the butch sadly. Anyway, I suppose it was careless, but I was in a rush and just posted the quickest description I could.

Anyway... Found it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SyU16JjieY

I suppose those type things actually do exist .. weird to say the least .. the other girls probably did not disclose all their infractions ..

Did not know a UK version existed and now it rests in my NF Q ..

My wife and I really enjoy the series .. she can't believe that it has a basis in reality .. I keep telling her, folks like that really do exist .. just look at your own brothers and sisters ..

Sorry for stepping on your delicate sensabilities .. the UK series is relevant on this thread since there would not be a USA version without it ..

Amy Smart is awesome and I'd like to see where that storyline is going.

Lip getting arrested puts BOTH Steve and Tony in hot water. Probably a worst-case scenario for these guys.
