exactly...not every show needs to be groundbreaking or so spectacular for me to watch...sometimes it's good to watch a show and not think too much about the inconsistencies etc and just enjoy it...Spielberg's involvement alone is enough to keep me watching

hopefully the writers have listened to some of the complaints and will make Season 2 even better...since it's too late to change anything for the 10 already filmed there's nothing anyone can do except hope that they see some of the show's shortcomings and work to correct it next season

TNT has a tv inner circle in which they poll viewers of their opinions on each episode. They have a series of questions about favorite characters and storylines and such. Here was the link for the first episode:

Maybe someone should send them a link to our thread. We'll be happy to give them feedback.

Still watching but starting to question my sanity. It's like a watching a train wreck, you can't stop.

But the pace of the series so far is like Days of Our Lives where you could watch it occasionally and not miss much. Hoping it gets better as it goes along.

In space, no one can hear you scream . . .

yep, every ep has:
zombie kids walking in single file
slimmy aliens crawling up walls and ceilings
robot aliens stomping near by
inner fighting amongst humans
no real story line developing

Have the fighters taken a Mech down yet .. ?? I may have fallen asleep during that part .. .. I'm thinking if they take down a Mech and crack open the cockpit, a different alien race would be inside ..

I agree, watched first few shows, then recorded, now.....losing interest. Maybe I had my expectations set too high?

They blew up a couple of them, and in the last episode they were shown to be attacking one with convential weapons, then a few scenes later, back at the school, they made the comment that they were glad the fighers were able to take that mech down so it didn't get away to report.

Again, as I mentioned above. Nobody thought the plan was flawed or suspicious. They just didn't want to be separated from their kids. That was the main reason they didn't like it and nobody gave a good reason why no adults could go. Especially old or pregnant women.

And as I said, you can have an obvious plot direction for the audience if you like but you cannot forgive the idiocy of the characters for not noticing the very same mannerisms that you thought were blatantly obvious and which nearly every viewer was already ahead of barely five minutes after he walked on screen. You didn't need an acting masterclass to sell that, the very premise did all the work. Strange guy wanders in and wants all the kids to follow him? Sure. Nothing suspicious about that at all ...

said the pied piper.

Agree. With most of the parents, Wylie excluded, being non-combatants, it would have made more sense to send along all the non-com parents to watch their children. Why have a bunch of non-coms to have to worry about with an impending attack? The plot was telegraphed early and due to the nature of the writing on this show was right down the alley of predictable tv. Please, oh please improve the writing. I need all the scifi fixes I can get

I did what you said. I stayed away. To quote a great scifi movie.

You, gmichael and others wanted to keep the negative comments to a minimum, so I just checked in. Now I am not going to do that as I am no longer watching the show.

It is funny you mention that, as the only people I have actually known that watch and "like" the show are the ones that are jonesing for scifi.

One thing that has really bugged me about this and other shows like this, but this one really brought it out, is the lack of ex-military. No offense to non-veterans out there, but I think I would probably have a better chance of surviving an attack like this.

As for the visual effects, my best friend is out. You won't have him to kick around anymore. Spielberg looked at most of the effects and signed off on them. This is what he was looking for.

My new favorite game is Save The Titanic

I am aware of that. I didn't say none, but two out of how many. All I see is Will Patton in this 300 group. Before anyone says there might be more in another group, wouldn't the old guy distribute military personnel more evenly between the groups.

Of course, that brings up another issue. Why did the old guy feel the need to explain to Noah Wylie his decision to put a military person in charge instead of a teacher?

I'm sure there are plenty of people that were in the military that you would NOT want in charge. Just because you were in the military does not mean you are the most qualified for a position like that.

Although they have fleshed out Will Pattons' character some more. Now he doesn't seem like he was portrayed in the Premiere.

Yes, there were and probably are a lot of people that I would not want in charge. Of course being a history teacher doesn't entitle one to be a leader.

True, but by default, until people prove themselves otherwise - you'd be an idiot not to start off a military campaign with people that have a military background.

You'd expect that a lot of the military was killed in beginning days of the invasion. They would not have been hiding away trying to keep safe.

They were. The military were the main target during the invasion. That was explained in the opening narration. So you have to assume that anyone putting up any kind of organized armed resistance was taken out.

To be fair, there are supposed to be about 100 combatants, and 200 civilians in this group. Of that, we've seen basically 10 fighters. We have no idea how many of the rest are ex military.
