I enjoyed it.

It was nothing spectacular, but it was worthy to watch on a weekly basis.
I did find myself enjoying the 2nd half more. Maybe because it had some of the characters established.

Sort of weird to just jump right in on a show like this.

Seemed pretty good, with the potential to get better. But then, I liked "V," too.

This has all been done in The Walking Dead, and about 10x better.

That's what I thought. I think they made a misstep by not having any precursor to the invasion in the first episode and just dropping in the middle of the story. Even some flashbacks would have livened up the endless dull scenes of wandering about in empty locations and Noah Wyle jamming in history lessons just to remind the audience he used to be a history professor.

The first hour I thought was pretty forgettable and dull but I enjoyed the second episode more because it did introduce two more colorful characters and in the case of Sarah Carter - hot with it.

The first hour wasn't helped by TNT. The ad breaks were atrocious. Six minutes of show followed by three minutes of commercials. That does nothing for immersion even with a DVR. They were obviously trying to get as much revenue for the hype as possible in the first hour just in case it bombs.

This show also reminded me of The Walking Dead but less compelling. Maybe because in Dead the world feels a bit more alive even if it is full of dead people.

Yup, above posts just about sum up my feelings about this show, the writing appears to be from a generic off-the-shelf screen-writing app and the doses of Spielberg saccharin just make it worse, overall, pretty darn forgettable.

I really liked it. The sci-fi shows that tend to last are character driven and don't over do the CGI. The mechs are really cool. I like the whole mystery of the kids with the creatures attached. They are setting up quite a few character plot lines. I am curious as to whether we will get flashbacks or not. I am definitely in.

Average at best.

Not a fan of Noah Wyle and he's unspectacualr as always in this.

And I almost hit delete on the dvr in the first 30 minutes when we got the 3rd commercial break after 5 minutes of show. That's limited commercial interruption?

The commercial breaks were way too plentiful. Noah Wyle didn't kill it for me, though. I actually thought he did a decent job at being an unremarkable guy having to fight aliens. Then again, I don't watch much television so I don't have any past Noah Wyle experience in the back of my mind to pull from. I liked the show well enough and will give it more than one night before I condemn it too much.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

Average at best for me. First off Noah Wyle is no John Connor and his incessant history lessons keep reminding me of his roll in "The Librarian." IMO he was completely miscast for this role. He's too nice. He's never played a role that required him to have an aggressive edge.

The 6-legged cooties weren't bad but I thought the mech versions looked a bit cheesy. Kinda like something SyFy would produce on a very low budget. Imo, they could've left that out.

One small nit that I just couldn't get over was the Bataan Death March from Boston. Hostile aliens take over the world, exterminate all adult humans, and enslave children. So lets march away from their ship in broad daylight? En mass? Down the center of the city streets? Lets camp the civilians in the middle of open fields? wtf? Was there a single military consultant on this show?

And can someone please tell me why Noah hasn't hooked up with the oh so very fine doctor? What's he waiting for? An invitation? In a post-apocolyptic world my wife and I have an understanding that if one of us doesn't make it, the other is free to explore available options. Don't all couples have this arrangement? Seems like something folks should talk about along with living wills, burrial arrangements, family size, etc.

I don't know how Spielberg feels about music montages but if they want this show to survive it's first 12 episodes he might want to incorporate a bit of emo music at the end of the next few episodes. Worked for SGU

OK, great premise:
1. THAT was limited commercial interruption??? 3 breaks in the first 30 minutes, the same Hyundai commercial at every break. How will it be next week with a regular commercial load???
2. Did I miss the very beginning of the premiere??? As the repeat started they gave a 1 minute premise of "what happened" including an EMP that disabled everything electric, and disabled the military and big cities.
3. In the second hour the tough guy at the armory reminded me of "Ham" in the first "V", a weapons expert that knows how to kill aliens, and have cold Beer... Bringing him in will help the cause
Hey it's Summer, I'll watch it
I concur the Walking Dead is much better, but fundamentally a different show...

When Noah remarked about the two legged mechs being built by six legged creatures, I immediately thought that the writer must read this forum, so he pre-empted a nit to be picked.

Moon Youngblood is definitely worth pursuing, aliens or not!

Follows typical tv formulas. Too much trying to show that "normal" life can exist while everyone is being hunted down by aliens. Doesn't work. It'll have to get a lot more down and dirty pretty soon.
Just my $.02, but the mechs were probably developed by a race behind the invasion and the six legged guys are slaves/mercenaries from a conquered race. The story line will involve a slow developing aliance between the six-legged mercs and humans to defeat the main baddies. Oh, this might have already been thrown out. If so, then I second that.

No the kid talking about what happened was the beginning. They did that to get you up to speed on what happened so they didn't show any of the actual invasion.

Just average in my book. Obvious the writers had watched Alien, Terminator, and Predator several times each.

Not sure how they could say "limited commercial interruptions" w/ a straight face.

It can only get better from here.

I agree it was just ok, and it had a lot of simialrities to the walking dead. Cookie cutter alien invasion story, hopefully they can diversify the characters a little more.

And I don't recall seeing a hood scoop on the 50 cal "GTO". But it may have been due to how intensively I was engaged in watching the interaction of four or five people shooting on full auto at one guy on the 50 and not hitting him for an eternity.

And why would you pick a car when you could probably get about any vehicle you wanted?

I was very disappointed with this premier.
First off, I only DVR shows like this, so I FF through all the commercials.
But, I found myself FF through much of the show too. The kiddie/sentimental scenes
do nothing for me. And the second half is spent fighting other Humans, rather than aliens. What happened there?
Don't know if I'll watch again....

I have this series set in my DVR. I watched the 2-hour pilot last night. It took me a bit to get into it. But by the second half it got better. Next weeks looks promising.
