Yeah, no doubt.

People seem to forget that most of the viewership has no idea what most of these places actually look like, which is why Vancouver can pretend to be them.

What actually trips me up is backlot shots. It's gotten to the point where I can tell not only that it's a backlot shot, but I can tell the difference between Universal, Warner and Paramount.

Well, I suppose that goes for the Eiffel Tower and the Coliseum of Rome too, and I wouldn't try to play those locations as the US either.

Except most people have seen those - perhaps not in person, but most of us have seen them.

Before I read the post in this thread, I hadn't even heard of the location mentioned.

Having said that, though, would most people be able to tell the difference between the Roman Coliseum and some of the other Coliseums Rome built around the world? Other than being in varying levels of decay, they all are the same design. For example, the Arles Ampitheatre in France could likely stand in for the Coliseum in Rome and most people wouldn't know the difference.

However, few people would mistake something like the Eiffel Tower as anything other than the Eiffel Tower.

Yeah that's not a fair comparison. A garden design based on Chinese culture is not even close to being in the same sphere of identification as iconic, historical and unique landmarks you can see from miles away.

Call me crazy, but I think the ratings drop has to do with the fact that the show sucks and is getting bad reviews.

I blame Moon.

Unexpectedly pregnant stars always ruin genre storylines because sooner or later you'll need a magic star child forced into the plot.

Yeah Charisma Carpenter, same goes for you too!

Like I said earlier, I like the show. I just don't love it. I just simply recycles too many of the worst ideas in SciFi to reach more than "like" status.

Too often, I feel like I'm watching a repeat episode.

A show like The X-Files (aside from the final season) was the kind of show I loved to watch. That show had some truly unique episodes and characters. Even shows like Earth 2 and Space Above and Beyond felt like they tried harder to develop great stories.

Falling Skies, while entertaining, feels lazy. It also feels like it takes too many things from previous shows. Anyone remember Dark Skies, for example? The aliens in that one sure sound like skitters...

Add in elements from "V" and you've got Falling Skies.

Even their logo sequence seems derivative. I keep expecting a three-fingered hand to come up over the Earth.

I liked Dark Skies but the major hook for that show was it's period setting and historical arc. Otherwise it was just another version of Heinlein's Puppet Masters.

Plus it also had Megan Ward and Jeri Ryan.

Very true.

Though it's trying to be at times....

But, there's nothing closer to the bottom than "Robocop: The Series".

Unless my understanding of celestial orbits is totally wrong, a full moon during broad daylight is impossible.

Except of course, on Falling Stars.

It's possible near sunrise and sunset, when the moon looks full but isn't quite.

None of the conditions that you mention existed. It was a full moon in broad daylight. I'm guessing that they'll do it again because of what was seen. It will happen again.

I hope Lexi is killed because she ruins this series for me :-( I cannot stand anything about Lexi and liked her better as a child with special powers and found that much more believable and enjoyable but this new Lexi is boring beyond words !
Also the Ben and Maggie stuff is boring to watch too !

I like Falling Skies but almost wish they'd kill her off. She was a good doctor/love interest character. But I can't stand her as the leader of the group. What were her qualifications? Having sex with Tom? George Washington was a fearless leader, but I'm glad Martha didn't try to command the troops

Or a producer.

I kid, I kid, she's married to a producer of Spartacus. Who probably has friends on Falling Skies.
