You apparently enjoy crime dramas more than I do. Fringe had more trappings than most of them, but it was still a crime drama at its core. The cases were weirder than what you'd see on CBS, but they were still cases nonetheless.

Bah. Later, rinse, repeat. Just more of the same with a bit of Dues Ex Machina thrown in because the writers had no better ideas.

True, and I don't know why I keep coming back for more but I do. There is something enjoyable about the show, I just can't pin down what it is. Either way, I've come this far, I'll stick it out.

The whole "Tom disappears and comes back slightly touched" storyline has been played to death already.

If this were a real situation, I don't think "terminating with extreme prejudice" would be something you'd have to talk people into. What did the Overlord say to Tom? something like "You've become a wanton killer Tom Mason". Duh, no kidding *******. You freaks ruined my planet. I'd have a talk with Anne about talking that skitter she skewered though the agony of death. Let the bastard bleed out.

Pretty cool shot of the Mechs frozen like statues.

Pretty much .. when I've invested this much time in a show, it's tough to not let it play out till the bitter end and I share that "Why am I still watching this .. ??" angst with you ..

Does it seem bizarre that they would subtitle this season (The Final Battle) the same as the "wrap-up" mini-series that ended "V" back in the 80's?

Pope, "You hijack an alien ship, fly a one way trip to the moon, get lost somewhere in the void of the galaxy, and you still won't die"

Ho-hum season opener. At least it was fast paced.

To be fair... "V: The Final Battle" wasn't the final battle... it was followed by V: The series which ran for one season.

Savage killer. Just as the overlord started to explain, who it is, he's afraid off-> *BANG!* Tom is an idiot.

And why are the powered kids suddenly so weak this season???

...because they needed an excuse to force Ben and Maggie together to make Hal more mopey than usual. Hey, they've got 13 episodes to fill this season!

Is it that many episodes? 13? I thought it was only ten? Thirteen sounds much better! I have been looking forward to the final season of Falling Skies!

No, it seems you are correct. I guess this show just drags out the same plots over and over so much that it feels like 13 episodes.

The humans will never win the war if they keep walking into traps and explore dark skitter-infested hallways alone or even in pairs. I don't know, maybe the high school thing was trying to show how cocky and careless they are becoming, but I don't remember that sort of thing ever happening under Weaver's command when they would go out in numbers.

Not a coincidence ... Tom, IMO, is acting as an agent for whatever it was that rescued him in space ...

Agreed.

Sure seems that you'd run out of humans before you ran out skitters.

Good grief, they didn't even attempt to get Tom back to Earth in a reasonable fashion to keep the story going. Literally a space wizard did it.

And yes, besides all the obvious red shirt moments, I noticed the space kids have had their powers neutered too, so one of them couldn't hear a killer skitter behind them or fight it off. Of course given the show keeps altering the canon to make the writing easier (cue even more easy to kill skitters) forgetting all the superpowers that come with the spikes does not surprise me. Also would not surprise me if the show uses the lack of moon base energy as an excuse to get rid of the powers and that the writers would forget the active spikes also keep the space kids from having all their old ailments return too. Conveniently it still apparently has enough juice for telepathy.

At least there was a lot of action.

I find it amusing that the title card still uses the mech noise in every episode, even though we haven't heard from one of those old mechs in years.

Team 2 did find the dormant ones - maybe with the power source destroyed they're all out of commission. Good raw material to make more of those high-density bullets...
