Obviously a planned little basketball show by the producers.

Don't be naive, they do not carry an inflated basketball. Its deflated and they also carry a pump.

Last night seemed to be an exceptionally clean leg for all .. something told me that Caroline and Jen would be saved by a non-elimination ..

Rachel, of the Green People picks green but somehow fails to read the clue and somehow does not notice that she's the only one picking Tuk Tuks that are the same color and once again Brenchel squeaks by .. these two are lucky .. it's also lucky no one struck a match with all that gas flying around ..

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Rachel said she didn't see the stupid clue. I'd say stupid didn't read the clue!

That has to be one of the most fun legs in race history. Nice fun challenges, great scenery and crazy cab rides make for great formula. I also like that when they came off the train everyone was screaming for no reason. The tuk tuk gas challenge was also a blast.

I wonder why they continue to throw in weird stops like the guy playing the flute. What was the purpose of that? There was no challenge, just sit and listen. Why even have that? Seems odd and out of place.

It's just a way to add local interest while serving as a way to spread the teams out a bit.

Either way, it's pretty fun to watch. I like when teams have to go somewhere or do something that isn't a roadblock/detour. It adds to the atmosphere of where they are.

Agree, and I do like the little bits of local culture like that which give a break from the constant hustle & bustle of the race. And, they did have to stop for a moment to "listen" for the location of that particular clue.

One of the reasons I like Race is the fact that I'm not a well off man and it allows me to vicariously travel to places that I know my pocketbook will never allow me to experience in real life .. so, yes, bring on those bits .. smile.gif

I was a bit distracted watching the Spanish Steps challenge. Did anyone know how to convert Roman Numerals? Or did they all have to ask a local? Sad.

And once again bad taxi drivers affect the game.

.

Why is that sad? There's a reason nobody actually uses them anymore ... except for calendar dates ... no one actually speaks Latin (conversationally) anymore either and when they do, most completely butcher the pronunciation. wink.gif

(It's pronounced Kaiser ... not Seeezaaaar.) smile.gif

Yeah, I watched but really not much of a standout episode, IMO .. although I understood why the U Turn on Dave and Connor, and I suppose Brenchel is to be commended, it still kinda felt a little dirty, to me anyway ..

And the Globetrotters having an uncooperative donkey ..

I was glad to see the Afghanimals pull through once again .. whether you like these guys or not, you gotta give them props ..

To be fair to the donkey, that guy was a real big load. He could have given the donkey a ride. :)

I have to admit, there was nothing wrong with U-Turning the one team you percieve can beat you to the #1 spot/prize for that leg of the race ...
Sure Dave & Connor can be 'ticked off, but It didn't have anything to do with U-turning a "58 yr old man" nor did it "not make any sense", as the Dave/Connner team kept complaing about...

Apart from the great architecture, the natural scenery was sort of ho-hum, IMO. At least, the beauty didn't really translate through the tv screen to me whenever the teams paused to admire their surroundings (Afghanimals & Globetrotters).

I liked the Globetrotters, always have. They have a fun-loving, gentle approach to the game (most of the time) but by the same token, this approach tends to spell their doom.

I wonder how long the Afghanimals would have struggled with the same donkey basket issue had the Utah Father/Son not clued them in about it. Here was another episode with far too much multi-team cooperation. Feels like cheating to me. I wonder if the competition would be more compelling if the rules prohibited any such cooperation between teams. It would create a much more aggressively competitive atmosphere I would think. Whether that would be a good thing for the show or not, I'm not sure. Particularly given the "global community" nature of the show.

Yes. The father started to become more unlikable with all his whining. And then he started openly making fun of Rachel's appearance. Maybe like the doctor from last season, he's starting to lose his composure due to the pressure. They are further along in the competition than they made it the first time (due to his leg injury).

Globetrotters are not good racers. They were lucky to survive the last leg, because he didn't read instructions about adding the year the Spanish Steps were built to the number of steps.

This time, they stared at that basket and never connected it.

I think the teams may have thought the winners of the leg got the Ford Focus cars as in previous seasons? But turned out the winner of the leg only got $7500 each. Not bad but not worth as much as the cars, potentially at least.

It's "amazing" that the teams you loved to hate in the past aren't all that bad this time around, especially Brenchel and the Afghanimals.
