I liked the two-hour pilot, but last night's episode bored me. I wish it were a bit edgier, more original, and less of an inoffensive family show, but on the other hand my kids like it and I enjoy watching it with them and talking about time travel, dinosaurs, and other sci-fi topics. Reminds me of watching all those Irwin Allen shows when I was a kid.

I have a couple of questions:
1. The Hot Dr. Mom has a very distinct accent
2. The Son has no foreign accent at all
3. The Hot teen-age daughter has her Mom's accent, was she using an I Pad like Device laying on her Bed???
4. The cute little girl seems to have no accent...Good scene when she heard her Dad's voice, called out, and encountered the Bird..
5. The Hero Cop Dad has no accent [On the show].
So we are supposed to believe they have been married around 20 years??? All the kids call him "Dad".... See 1-5.....HMMMM...

A flat tire? Really? They're from the year 2149, and it appears they have the science to heal small wounds almost instantaneously, yet they still haven't figured out a flat tire, on an all-terrain vehicle!? Must be the same people that designed the bullets that bounce off of dinosaurs.

They burned all the run-flat tires to get the smoky ambiance in the future.

Mrs Hot Mom .. Shelley Conn who did a good job in Strike Back (a good show especially the current season) .. is quite hot, IMO .. that scene in episode two where she was tucking the kids in and had the shorts on ..

Yeah, but it's fun to poke holes in such a train wreck of a program. To be honest, after that flat tire scene I was just going to quit watching, but I got the feeling that if it starts off this bad, how bad can it really get? So I stuck around, and then the birds came! This show appears destined to go down in history as one the worst written and least creative shows ever, I can't possibly miss that bit of TV infamy.

I get a kick out of the critical posts .. the critics are watching soooo closely, they bring out details I never even noticed .. and it actually adds to my enjoyment of the show .. and hey, if they are examining it that closely, they must like it on some level ...

Yes, the show is written for the lowest possible denominator by the crappiest writers-so lets not be critical.

The films of De Sica, of Welles, of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger made little money and endure as spiritual delights.

Maybe the daughter went to a boarding school or something abroad?

And that's not hard to do by the way. My parents have been married for 35+ years. My dad has an American accent. My mom does not. My elder sister and I have American accents. My eldest sister does not. Pretty similar to what you see on the show actually.

I believe your kids are one of the target audiences for this show since its at the 7/8 pm hour on a school night. If they develop the characters a little more the show has a chance. This is by no means an adult SF show when half the show features the younger actors. Its better than any reality show.

OT: Money must be really tight when there are no original first run dramas on network TV on Saturday nights.

Resurrecting Saturday night was tried last year or the year before. People just don't want to bother watching television on Saturday because most are out or with family. That's why Saturday has become the traditional burn off slot for dead shows.

I would have figured they'd have runflat and/or self sealing tires in 2165.

They seemed to have shoved lots of stuff through that portal, and a large supply of bullets.

A better option would be to use tweels. They exist now, require less maintenance and more importantly look futuristic.

TN may not be great but it's nowhere near Syfy's Saturday night movies.

I'd say it's better than The Event or Flash Forward or V. O_o

I thought it was interesting at the beginning of the show that the jeep and soldiers go missing after being out at night and nobody can figure out what happened. Their first thought was Sixers...I guess everyone seemed to forget how those Velociraptor type dinosaurs went on a rampage just a few days before. If somebody goes missing, wouldn't killer dinosaurs be the FIRST assumption you would have??

LOL. Good point.

I'd say the best thing the show has going for it right now is that it doesn't really seem to be trying to hard to be better than it is. It seems to know it's just silly fun. But if they decide to reach out of their comfort zone, I could see it going off the rails quickly.

Except it seems everything is written for the lowest common denominator now. That's why we're so critical. If it's not reality, a generic procedural (cop, lawyer or medical) or a comedy the merely recycles the same jokes we've seen since 1960, we get half-a$$ed attempts at sci-fi that insult the audience meant to watch it.

It would just be nice to occasionally see the networks and studios that produce this stuff try a little bit.

We all recognize that things like budget and time slot do limit some of the things you can do, but good writing is still good writing, regardless of how much you spend.

Some of us are just sick and tired of everything becoming yet another teen angst drama where everyone has daddy or mommy issues and feels the need to be a rebel.

Otherwise they might as well just tell the writers, "Anything is allowed, so nothing is forbidden. Invent any facts you need for your episode." Watch them suddenly and conveniently have helicopters we didn't see yet, for example, when the script calls for them.

Flat tire on the vehicle. "The steel was meant for the bullets, and the rubber was meant for the tires! Get it right, will you?"
