Versus airs a lot more games then I listed as indicated on the full 2nd round schedule. The games I listed are on Versus only, no RSN coverage for the participating teams.

Thanks to Versus for using the TSN feed for the end of SJ-DET tonight. The TSN announcers are so much better than the CSNCA clowns that they don't even seem to be in the same league. Kudos to Doc for taking home the Sports Emmy for best play-by-play announcer.

I have to disagree with this, I preferred when they took the CSN-CA feed. TSN did every no-no in the book last night, including:
1. The announcers talking about a particular player so director cuts to a closeup shot of that player on the bench while actual play is going on.
2. Cutaways to closeups so you miss close scoring chances.
3. I can't remember if they hit the trifecta by showing the goalie leaving the crease to go to the bench on a delayed penalty/last minute or two in the game but I have seen them do that in the past.

I agree with lokar and I vote for the SJ announcers over the East coast bias ones, including the commentators on Verses!

This makes last and this weekend with no games on NBC?

Would be nice to have a game with DD 5.1 this weekend.

LOL, you fear the greatness of the San Jose Sharks.

GO SHARKS!!!!

I saw the comment about DD 5.1, Versus is DD 5.1 too, but NBC seems to mix the sound better.

The image on the Sharks game, on CSN last night, was considerably better than it was during the last game on VS. The action camera shots were brighter and the closeups had more color saturation. The Sharks were lucky to get out of the series alive. Detroit's players may be getting up there in age but, man, they can cycle and rotate in the offensive zone as well as anyone. I still think that Mike Babcock is the best and classiest coach in the NHL.

On the last Versus game it sounded like the announcers were L, C and R channels.
Is that just how Versus mixes games?
Is Versus true DD 5.1 or simulating it?

Yeah, I'm deathly afraid of their embellishment every time they get touched on the ice, their classless snow showers of the goalie to try to gain an edge, and their sore loser skirmishes and fighting at the end of games they lose.

Here's Broadway Joe doing his best acting to try to bring this great sport closer to that manly game of soccer.

Versus upmixes everything, even when picking up live games from networks doing true 5.1 like CBC.

It was a penalty. In soccer, they just fall down.

The WCF series is going to be a good one if last night's game is any indication.

Yeah, they gave him an unsportsmanlike conduct for diving but it's still tough to watch. The NHL used to be so physical and now you have guys that are like 6' 5" exploding off their feet and curling up in a ball on the ground holding their heads in agony over a tap to the shin pads.

NHL is the only time I've ever used the zoom function on my tvs. You lose some of the graphics, you lose some of the picture quality, but you get old-time hockey.

Go Sharks.

NBC again lacking 5.1 audio on the game in SJ today. Also way too much detail enhancement on the picture, nasty ringing on all the edges.

It makes no sense that NBC can't do DD 5.1 for this game.
Is it a Versus production truck?
I'm guessing SNF Mixer is not there.

Looks like CBC suffered from the same abuse of detail enhancement, at least based on the highlights on NHL Network. Versus's coverage on Friday wasn't nearly as bad, and of course yesterday's game in TB was up to NBC's usual standards. NBC send their F team out to do this game or something?

Nope. I think it will be decided in Game 7 and still think Tampa's going on to the Finals.
