The plan at one point was 3 seasons for books 4 and 5 (which will be re-integrated into a linear storyline). That would match your expectation of 7 seasons.

That's only 4 more years! I expect another book will be written by then, but past that point they will have certainly caught up with GRRM.

They are still targeting seven total seasons:

Quote:

Seven books, seven seasons – that's the hope for Game of Thrones producer Frank Doelger. The HBO series based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire has its sights set on seven seasons, which would match the number of planned entries in the book series.

"[The number of series] is being discussed as we speak. The third season was the first half of book three, season four will be the second part of book three. . . George R.R. Martin has written books four and five; six and seven are pending," Doelger told Radio Times at the BAFTA Awards last weekend. "I would hope that, if we all survive and if the audience stays with us, we'll probably get through to seven seasons."

They can pad. Sweeping panoramic views of mountains, people walking through forest, battles that last longer, dragons flying around looking for cows to eat, more scenes with Alfie Allen just shouting "no, please" ... wink.gif

Who knows?  Perhaps just like they expanded book three into two seasons, they could condense others.  I've been watching with a good friend of mine who I sent a link to that article last week.  He's read the first four books and said he burned through the first three very fast, but got bogged down in book four.  He didn't say exactly why since he didn't want to give anything away to me but it kind of sounded like it wasn't because it was so eventful, but more like because it was less engaging.  He said it was easily his least favorite so maybe it's one that they could condense to tighten up the flow a bit?

Dany bathing...a girl can get awfully dusty in the desert...might take most of a season to really get her clean.

Based on recent rumors, Dany will be bathing behind a privacy curtain from now on. So I hope a backlit silhouette will suffice. biggrin.gif

HBO presents...the wrong actors with too many clothes pretending to be something we don't care about
from a director who was turned down by all the studios because they don't care about it either.

Dany nude or dragons? No, watch this. Besides, we think everyone's on vacation, so here.

Gee Thanks

Nope. Check the celeb gossip for GoT. Of course it could be another actor they are talking about but that's rumors for you.

I thought so too since the button is a Thumbs Up symbol. But if you read the tooltip, is says "Click if this is helpful' which implies somthing different.

Day two of GoT withdrawal. Had horrifying experience of tuning in at the usual time and saw a pompadour and a piano.

Watched previous episodes, did not help...

Anybody have any luck getting the beer from Ommegang? Tried my local distributor and he said he was only shipped 1 case. They hype it up but don't take care of the demand ..Can't wait till next week, is it the usual 1 hour?

I got a bottle of Iron Throne when it was released at the start of the season. All the local distributors were sold out in a couple of days and only got one case from Ommegang. FYI, the shop I got mine from said there are 4 GoT limited editions planned.
