Jamie was covered in dirt the last 2 years of shooting, that's why he looks 3 years older.

I think it's actually a very good portrayal of someone who's been hurt who is unused to it, and now sees the reactions of others to his not being a paragon. He is physically very similar to before, but his body language has shifted.

I agree. Hes very good. The captivity, losing the hand, and I think especially Brienne has rubbed off on him. Looks like he's on his way to joining the human race.

I don't know for sure, but he may have lost some weight as well which tends to make the facial features more "gaunt" .. and with what he's gone thru, it would make most sprout some gray hair as well .. that, and wondering what's happening with your sister / lover ..

the dragon VFX looked amazing...the textures on Drogon were so realistic...even small things like the gust of wind blowing into Dany as Drogon took flight was spot on...they look better then the Nazgul's did in the LOTR trilogy

I thought the hair and clothing blowing back was a nice touch also.

Agreed.

Also, some food for thought: don't get between a dragon and his meal.

Game of Thrones’ Draws HBO’s Largest Audience Since ‘Sopranos’ Finale

APRIL 7, 2014 | 12:13PM PT

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” returned in a big way Sunday, soaring to a series record and drawing some of the premium cabler’s best numbers in years.

The HBO series produces just 10 episodes a year, so each one is a precious gem to its fans. After waiting more than nine months for a fresh hour, roughly 6.6 million of them showed up for its fourth-season premiere — up 50% from its year-ago opener (4.37 million) and triple the 2.2 million who watched the show’s inaugural telecast in April 2011.

It was also up 22% more than the audience for the show’s third-season finale last June (5.39 million).

This is the largest audience for any HBO program since the finale of “The Sopranos,” which drew 11.9 million in 2007. The highest in recent years had been 5.53 million for “True Blood” in August 2011.

The previous high for “Thrones” was 5.5 million for an episode in the middle of last season.

So who got the other sword that Tywin had made? Think he would he give it to Tyrion? When they were being forged it looked like one was smaller than the other.

I find it hard to believe he'd give it to Tyrion, considering how much he despises him. Joffrey would be a more likely candidate.

Some how Arya puts it to good use. its just about the right size. It came from her fathers sword Ice.

They should use more American and continental European actors, even if they can't do the British accents. But there would be more skin pigment and more believable inhabitants of these environments.

Of course the convention is to use British actors, using American for a medieval period would be laughable. They may as well throw some Canadians or Aussies in there too if you want to go totally anachronistic.

Spanish, French or other European accents would work since Europe was indicative of the kind of culture the show is presenting. It's evoking an age of castles, knights and feudal warlords. English being the most neutral of accents would be the obvious choice for the most part but they still use specific accents to represent some of them more exotic locations. Considering Westeros is basically England complete with Northerners and Southerners, it doesn't surprise me the show uses mostly British actors with regional dialects. I'm more surprised everyone north of Hadrian's The Wall doesn't speak with a Scottish accent and the commoners in King's Landing are Cockneys and sound like they escaped from a Guy Ritchie movie!

The only problem I have with the British English on the show is that it uses too much modern vernacular and phrasing. It's a problem I've had before and tonally it sounds out of place. The line this episode talking about jewelry as "rubbish" sounded very jarring to me.

I think they blew the entire budget on that one dragon. It did look phenomenal but as I remembered from watching the features on The Hobbit this past weekend LotR was over a decade ago so it's no surprise that things have moved on. The tools are there to do things cheaper and faster now.

As long as they are on the smaller scale.

Let's see if the show can pull out some major dragon battles on a vast scale later in the season.

I suppose. I think he already has a Valyrian steel sword though. He was showing it off to Sansa before the battle in season 2. A king can never have too many swords I guess.

The way the episode bookends with the Stark swords was really nice. I completely overlooked that until I watched the "Inside the Episode" thingy. Destroying Ned's sword symbolizes the end of the Starks, in Tywin's mind anyway. And then Arya gets Needle back in the end. Can't wait to see what she gets up to with that.

BTW, I'M SO HAPPY GoT IS BACK!!! That last scene with Aria was exciting and disturbing at the same time. The way she slowly impaled the baddies and her expressions was really creepy. And she finally got her pony. A nice white one.

Yup, the girl is now a natural born killer who will dispatch those who have offended her or harmed her family with cold dispassion. One pretty scary young lady.

It's interesting how one dragon is now so much larger than its siblings. Dany got a very sobering reminder of what wild beasts her "children" are. When the big boy wheeled around and snapped at her, it looked like my cat, when she's annoyed, taking a nip at me with almost blinding speed (no surface breaks thank goodness). Of course Dany's pet has somewhat larger dentures biggrin.gif

I'm not sure she's a natural born killer, so much as a girl who's been very, very hardened by her life experiences.

The creators talked about the differences in the dragons early last season in a video clip, you can probably access it at HBO.com. It's been posted in this thread as well.
