If? So you don't know for sure, how is it a spoiler? You seem to be searching for a reason to scold another member. And now its not only this thread but all threads in the forum... paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep.

Well, there really was only so many ways to interpret his post. His spoiler was weakly veiled with winky faces and ellipses, but it was obvious what he was trying to say. If I were to post it here, it would for sure be a bannable offense. A spoiler of that magnitude does not belong in any thread outside of the book reader's thread.

By your logic then, no one should post anything anywhere on the internet about GoT if they've read the books. No spoilers, in my mind, only applies to a thread that specifically forbids such.

From what little has been revealed about it I'd pick Dorne. Anywhere else and you'll probably end up robbed or dead or both. Plus, I hear good things about those Dornish girls.

Someplace secluded and private on Dorne with Dany. Of course there would be an endless supply of Dornish wine and be very far away from her "children".

We've had this discussion before. It's a steampunk visual and the execution conceptually doesn't work because the audience can't tell what they are actually looking at unless the designers explain it.

I missed the original discussion, but it was pretty apparent to me what was being portrayed. It took me a while to realize that it changed depending on where the plot was focused. I also wouldn't call it steampunk. It's more like clockwork.

Ask any Joe (or Josephine) in the street and they have no idea what it is apart from a big map. I suspect many on this forum have no idea either and the general impression when it first aired was that the title sequence was a series of rings from LotR and there's a map thrown in.

When in fact the whole sequence is actually a mashup of an astrolabe and Dyson sphere, that even described as "clockpunk" still doesn't make sense with the aesthetic or theme of the show. Especially when the original concepts of using a raven to fly across a regular map of the world would have made more sense and no doubt would have been just as pretty.

Just having the map on the outside of the rings would have been a conceptual improvement because then viewers might have some idea that the map is actually on the rings.

I guess I haven't bothered to analyze the opening to that extent. I know it doesn't really have anything to do with the vibe of the show, but it does give you a little orientation to the Westeros world. It's interesting how they model the essence of the various cities and locales. They introduce new locations every season and the models are incredibly detailed and inventive. And most importantly, I just think it's cool.

Be cooler if they used a real orchestra, though.

I'm with archiguy I don't go that deep into the intro. I have known since season 1 about the cities and their meanings in the intro. It's still one of my favorite intros in recent TV history and I always watch it where I usually skip the into of other shows.

I can live with the orchestration as it is. I don't bother analyzing the score to that extent since it sounds fine, serves it purpose and unlike The Hold Steady or the title visuals, fits thematically into the show.

Regardless of what you call / what it consists of / who really knows the real deal / .. the intro sequence both visually and musically, is one of the best ever done for a show and fits perfectly into the show theme from the get go .. as well as giving the viewer a very concise representation of the GOT World .. IMO of course ..

Real deal? Eh? It's exactly as I described. It's a supposed to be a mechanical map on the inside of a Dyson sphere. So say the creators of the title sequence.

What's your point? You can see comments on the internet from people thinking it was a LotR image and the majority of the public have no idea what an astrolabe is, never mind a Dyson sphere.
