Yes .. I don't think I ever subscribed to the thread, if there is one, but I did hear it was on for a second season ..

There is one, but it's been buried I think (at least until more news on season 2 comes out).

HBO said they want the showrunners to do any prequel but the showrunners clearly stated they were done after this show ends. I guess someone else could step in and let the show material carry itself but I think the showrunners are a key to the success, look, feel, of this show every season.

It could be worse. You could have Alzheimers.

Benioff and Weiss have done a great job but when you look up their previous credits, they don't really have anything else of significance on their resumes. Weiss has a real thin resume other than GoT, just an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia that he co-wrote with Benioff.

Benioff has mostly written movie screenplays but never was a show runner before GoT. But he had written an Xmen movie and Troy, which has similar types of battle scene visuals and so forth:

Maybe Benioff made contacts with people who knew how to stage battle scenes in Europe. You wouldn't expect the screenwriter to know how to deal with the operational details of staging such scenes or the logistics of hiring crews in several countries, including extras and so on.

Or maybe HBO hired people experienced in these areas.

So maybe HBO could find some talented screenwriters coming into their own to run a series. Though it might be unusual to entrust a mega budget to first-time show runners. It appears the Westworld show runners don't have experience with big budget, cinema-quality staging either.

I'd add Caprica. Maybe the worst of them all, at least for SciFi. Some here will differ but it was poorly done as a prequel to BSG and got canned quickly.

That's some good taste in adaptable fantasy!

I wanted to highlight these two and ask we now not get ahead of ourselves. Rothfuss is doing his best Martin impression, and I'm worried Sanderson may go all Robert Jordan on The Stormlight Archive. I loved Sanderson's diversion with superhero fiction, but now I want him to focus back on Stormlight.

Yeah, I didn't get 'Caprica'. Cool opportunity to show the underpinnings of the First Cylon War, but they opted for ponderous character development with characters we didn't care about, mob intrigue we didn't care about, etc. It's like they took everything about BSG that made it so great and.... did the exact opposite.

Watch out! Season 7's plot has apparently leaked and I've already had a spoiler cross my path via the headline of some stupid site! (Yes, they put a major headline in a header).

I advise you to turn off your Google Alerts for any GoT news lest you, too, have your day ruined by some random news article.
