I seem to recall seeing an artist depiction of a Game of Thrones dragon wearing plate armor to protect its belly. I could see Dany going to the trouble to do that for Drogon at some point, at least after one of his siblings dies from an arbalete.

Yeah, there's going to be at least one dragon casualty. Otherwise they wouldn't have introduced the arbaletes. Dany & Drogon will be most displeased.

I think it's reasonable to assume that the Night King has some sense of the impending wars for Westeros which he will take 100% advantage of. Or perhaps it's just the show creators taking some liberties with time scales, as usual. Armies on foot take a long time to march, and they haven't even passed the wall yet. I guess they're going to hit it where it's weakest, like The Hound saw in his visions (at the currently unmanned outpost). So it's possible the army of the dead is marching not due south but towards the coast. That would definitely explain the delay. Anyway, we'll surely find out in the coming episodes.

Also, don't forget the promo where the Night King was in front of Cercei, that's happening this season. So unless he beat all resistance up North to get there, he was invited or showed up without his armies, and that means probably an alliance between Cercei and the dead. Whatever happens it's going to be an epic climax.

Again, I have not read the books and binge-watched from Season 1 to now over the last couple of months. I think the story could continue for years with more and more people coming out of the woodwork to try to become King/Queen of the seven kingdoms and still be interesting.
For me, I enjoy most of the magical/occult elements. I like how they are kept somewhat attenuated most of the time and are more an accent to the more discernible power of the political machinations.

I don't enjoy the army of the dead much though. I find their loud shrieking more annoying than scary. There was one scene I loved though. I think it was Hardhome. Amidst all the chaos, there for a moment silently stood the ghoulish dead children. That was way more scary than all the yapping and frenetic action!

When one of her dragons dies, and it will (because Chekhov's ..... arrow thingy), there's going to be NO living with Dany.

A little research reveals that the opening sequence shows the sea to the right of the wall frozen over in the latest ep when it was clearly water in the previous openers. Sneaky bastiches.

Her breath condensing like that could be poetic license about winter is here blabla but it could also mean literally what it seems to mean: the Night King standing in front of her to make an alliance (or just to kill her).

Poetic license for a promo, thy shows she same thing with Arya and we've already seen that scene (no Nights King).

Poetic license would be all that is. That promo isn't even using actual scenes.

I saw this mentioned somewhere else, and it was determined that the still image is misleading and when in motion, what appears to be frozen sea is just a cloud passing.

That bit of attention to detail is simply amazing .. and, it appears there is a Horde approaching on the bottom, current, pic .. thanks for catching this ..

Yeah, and that horde is clearly heading for the frozen sea on the right too. it's pretty clear that this is how the White Walkers are going to escape their "prison", something that only happens during the eons-long Westeros winter. They're not worried about the wall; they're just going to go around it.*

Yeah, could be a cloud. AFAIK this season was the first time there was a change there. I couldn't find a video of the latest one on online, I'll check it out "in motion" tonight via DVR. "Winter coming" is a good reason for it to be ice or clouds, or even ice under cloud cover, so who knows.

One thing I do know is that these little easter eggs and their resulting discussions don't bother the producers one little bit. Man, if this show was on AMC or something, the sky's the limit for what they could charge for advertising.

Yeah there's no doubt about the ice flow on the far right. Hard to say if it's bridged at the top. Just a matter of time till the thick part touches down.

I did check the last episode of season 6 and there is some ice formations starting to show up there, as well as more clouds. It's not as much as season 7, but it's there. I also checked the video of season 7, and it does seem to be more than a cloud, but it's difficult to say that it's actually frozen over along the coast. I noticed a similar effect over by the Iron Islands due to the texture of the water that the show uses. It's interesting to note that the shot going from Winterfell to the Wall is still the same as season 1 and nothing can be seen beyond the edge of the wall.

Personally, I think it's just showing that it's getting colder.

What "horde"??? Do you mean the FOREST?

Forests don't move!

Well, unless they're accompanied by Ents.

Just thinking out loud. When looking from above, aren't the skies usually cloudy when it's snowing underneath them? That is an ice sheet to my eyes. How else would they get in to begin the fight?
