So how long will Two and a Half Men last with Ashton Kutcher as lead and no Charlie Sheen?

My guess is that it will be like That Seventies Show without Eric Forman, just one season of life left. The Jake character is now way too old, and the Alan character is getting a little gray.

Maybe if they bring back Kandi and have her look for more change under sofas it would help. Rose won't be back.

I don't think this is off topic because all the episodes are or will be available on DVD.

I think it was the funniest comedy on TV ever.

We liked 2.5 men during the first few seasons but since then it's just become repetitive and to often relies way to much on the sleaze factor. We will probably watch the first few to see how the plot changes.

I think it will depend on what kind of character AK is asked to play.
If he is to be simply Charley II, it won't work.
No one would believe him as a grown-up naughty boy.
He has too much of a baby face to pull that off.
Hopefully, the producers recognize that.

A wild guess - He will play Charlie's cousin who rents his home while Charlie's lives in France with Rose.

I love the "sleaze." One of my favorite episodes is the "Plan B" episode with Alan and Lindsay on a hotel room date.

Another favorite is when Alan goes nuts in a bookstore and yells "They're not enough bowl movement left" for him to read all the books he wants to absorb.

More sleaze, more hot chicks, and in the final episode lets have Alan murder Judith and bury her body in the beach, only to have it uncovered by high tide. Then the CSI crew from a previous episode investigates, again with the same "police issue" tank top.

I have no idea, but can foresee AK being an older brother role model for Jake, thus causing Alan to freak. Cryer has carried the show for the last 2 seasons, so if the writing is good and the transition seamless, then "who knows" as far as longevity.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

I've never watched a full episode of this show, but I think with Kutchner they kind of have to take the show in a new direction.

If they don't it will fail, but if they do I think that's the best way to handle it, basically make it a new show with some of the same characters.

All depends who shows up...the "movie" Ashton or the "TV" Ashton. Not that it matters. The show will show a spike the first show or two and then promptly decline. I give it a year if it's lucky.

The show fails because where is the "one half man". Jake is long past puberty and is in the realm of historic adulthood. He is marrying age.

Sheen, unfortunately, is never coming back, either to the show or to normalcy. He is a good example of why drugs are the wrong way to go. Too bad, because he use to be a very smart and likable person, but he wrecked his brain chemistry. There is no coming back from that. The show will limp along for one season, then they will take it off life support.

Hopefully Sheen will get income for all the reruns, which will go on for longer than he is alive. They are still showing I Love Lucy reruns somewhere, I am sure. Sheen will have to cut back on expenses, but he is not going to be broke and homeless.

The thing is, nobody here knows what the producers will do. I think they would be more imaginative than to just have AK be 'Sheen lite'. These guys get the big bucks to think of things that we can't, after all, we can only relate in terms of the show that WAS. They can conceptually unhinge it from it's moorings, we can't.

The writers of that show are terrific. I hope they keep the same writing staff. They just throw away great jokes right and left as if they were a dime a dozen. Other shows on TV are unwatchable because they have bad actors just talking nonsense that is not funny at all.

The same producer came up with Mike and Molly. Does anyone really watch that show? I watch news and I use to watch Charlie Sheen. Now I just watch news, DVDs, and PBS science and history programs. Sitcoms stink except for a precious few.

Sheen's character dies off in some amusing way while touring with his Lifetime Jingle Show (Charlie, alone, playing his jingles on his piano and talking to the audience). Later, unbeknownst to everyone including Charlie, it is discovered he fathered a child (when he lost his virginity) when Ashton's character shows up too late to meet his real dad, but inherits the house, the assets, and the family.

I don't necessarily think it is purely the drugs.
IIRC, way back at the beginning of his career, he was somewhat twitchy.

It gets good ratings, or at least did until Sheen went off the deep end and nothing but re-runs have been shown every week.

My guess is the show will last one season, they might milk two out of it depending on how far the ratings drop and whether CBS becomes stubborn and refuses to cancel it then. I don't know many people who think Kuster is all that funny. That will kill the show as much as Sheen no longer being on it.

I wouldn’t be so quick to put all drug users in Sheen's category. Since he left the show, I suspect a lot of what he is doing is very well orchestrated. I mean he sure has gotten a lot of attention because of it. And I’m not so fast to right him off. Robert Downey Jr. sure has turned the corner, or so it seems, and his career is as good as it ever was, and I think we could have also said he ruined his career a few years ago.

Mark my words:

Sheens character gambles away everything to Ashton's character in a poker game (house; money; etc). Alain comes home to find the new guy owns everything while poor Charlie Harper is on tv getting arrested and then off to rehab for as long as the writes want. Ashton takes Alain in as he doesn't want to put anyone out, Burta stays put as the maid and all is pretty much left unchanged really.

Note: I will sue if my idea is used Chuck

I actually think that idea is brilliant, but he has to die off camera because there is no way in hell he is coming back for a quick cameo death scene.

Now what are the possibilities for a amusing mode of death?

1) Falling off a balcony while hiding naked from a jealous husband.

2) ?

3) ?

I too think it will depend upon how they use him. The show was getting stale with Jake growing up and all Charlie did was sit on the couch and drink. I think it would have been best to have Alan burn down Judiths house too and have her and Herb move in with Alan. Ryan Styles can be just as good and funny as anyone else. If the writers begin to over emphasize Ashton and do not have better and more parts for all the other secondary actors such as Judith, Herb, Rose, etc then I do think the show will begin to sink. We will see ....

Right. All the cast is lovable except for the Judith character. I wonder how she feels being the only villain on the most popular show on TV. She looks like a witch, so she is perfect for the part.
