I guess she's suppose to be the big bad this season, a departure from the various Muslim villains of past seasons.

But she's really not that charismatic so not sure it's worth bringing the character back.

Funny that you should mention it. That is exactly what I thought was going to happen after the lady had patted the dog. I thought that was a signal to a nearby assassination team telling them to go ahead and take her out.

I don't think Allison is the big-bad this year...those chemical weapon guys are...I'm not sure if the writers want us to sympathize with Allison or not...seems like she got in over her head and was almost forced into cooperating with the Russians

Sounds like you are assuming she is innocent. Don't forget it was her voice on the phone when someone tried to kill Carrie.

I'm not saying she's innocent, the flashback episode showed that she is in fact a double agent but the circumstances surrounding it weren't as cut and dry as her deciding to betray her country...she was almost forced or coerced into it by Krupin who pretty much set her up...she was a thief before but she only agreed to spy for the Russians when she was blackmailed by Krupin

Allison is motivated by personal greed. The giveaway was the scene where, alone in her office with everything crumbling around her, she went online and looked at handbags. There's no ambiguity here; she's not political, and she's not motivated by principle. She's trying cash in and get out, and she's using all her assets to accomplish that goal.

Saul had it right when he called Allison a sociopath. She is brilliant and emotionless and whatever she does is done to advance the cause of Number One. I think it's too late for her, though. Saul, Carrie, and Astrid, of German intelligence, are all convinced of Allison's guilt. Thus, I can't believe that Dar has any doubt about it either. I am ready to see Allison get what is coming to her. Hope it happens this season. I have really enjoyed Miranda Otto as Allison. I think her performances as a slick, elegant, sociopath have been spot on.

So how did German Intelligence know about the informant so fast to pick him up before they got him to a safe house? Great episode, Quinn's got move lives than a cat. I think his first name is Houdini..

Not to nitpik the show, but whenever they suspected Saul of being treasonous (on several occasions), it only took them about 10 minutes to bring in the polygraph guy. Why didn't they have one hooked up to Allison in short order? I know the answer - because the plot wouldn't advance if they knew right away she was lying - but still.

I'm surprised it took them this long to announce a renewal for Homeland...I thought it was a no-brainer...the last 2 seasons have been a renaissance for the show...hopefully they can film next season in a new country (much like this season was filmed entirely in Germany)...maybe Asia or Africa?

The Affair getting renewed was a bit surprising

That's true, whether it was this season or in past seasons. Which reminds me, (and sorry to digress a bit here but it's in regard to Saul's polygraphs,) was the season 1 mole ever revealed to us or was that a thread conveniently dropped (or just sunk under its own weight?)

tonight's episode is written by the great David Fury (LOST, 24, Fringe etc) and I'm hearing it's a good one

How great could he be if he wrote 24 and Lost.

He also wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer too, right? That was a good show, more plausible than 24, Lost or Homeland and that was a show about vampires.

I'm starting to laugh at this show. I caught myself laughing out loud at some of the stuff like when Quinn woke up, I'm like leave him alone or just poke one of his eye's out why let him off easy this week.

These are just my opinions.

Seriously! Shark officially jumped.

Saul keeps giving red a pass despite implausible stories.

Even when Carrie gives him the facts the first action is not to clear the station but to find red.

Quinn must be getting sick of make up effects crew putting things in his mouth only to shortly spew them up when the cameras are rolling.

Wouldn't Allyson's gunshot at contact range be the slightest suspicious? Not to mention the
bodyguard" loosing his weapon so easily? And why did he give it up to Allyson?

When this show started, it was praised for not being like 24, for approaching terrorism with some subtlety, not with the blunt morality of Jack Bauer performing "enhanced interrogation" against the ticking time bomb scenario, over and over again.

Yet some people were wary, because some of the people who ran 24 also are key people on running this show.

Gradually the stories veered into implausibility, like turning an Iranian spy into a US puppet, after he'd slipped into the US of all places and killed his ex wife.

Now this season, they have Carrie and the bad girl Allison acting like James Bond with guns. Carrie had been a case officer, then drone queen, mostly working in the office.

But with this episode, the transformation to Jack Bauer is complete, as she's literally running to stop the timer, gun in hand, singlehandedly.

You can't roll your eyes enough.

The thing is, Showtime gives this show wide latitude, always renewing it. They don't have to resort to these action movie tropes to keep the show on the air.

Yeah Dexter would arrive on the scene and determine in 5 minutes that the scenario is bull****, that Alison's wound was at close range, not from a gun on the chair.

Her prints are on both guns, she didn't wipe anything down and only her hand has gunshot residue.

But given the exigency of the terrorist plot, maybe the German intelligence wouldn't really bring in the forensics team.

However, you would expect the German police to go over the scene. Maybe they don't reach conclusions right away. But we viewers of TV shows and movies know the forensics don't hold up.

As preposterous at his season has been, I continue to enjoy the show. Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, and Miranda Otto have all been great. For this we should count our blessings. Remember that once upon a time the cast included the painfully untalented Diego Klattenhoff. Like 24 before it, Homeland is saved by its high production values and the topicality of its stories. What can I say? It still works, at least it seems so to me.

Every time I think the rash and emotionally infantile Laura can't make a mess she has made even messier, she tops herself. At the end of the rash TV appearance in which she revealed the rendition of a man by German intelligence, the guy ends up killing himself, so she, as usual, accomplished nothing. Laura reminds me of a very young child who throws a tantrum and destroys her own toys. Saul got it right when, at the end of Laura's TV performance, he looked at the TV screen and said, "Fu*k you!"

I hope that the evil Allison doesn't get to her dacha in Russia. Somehow, I suspect she won't.

It's implausible that Saul and, especially Dar would let Allison within 100 yards of anything remotely classified given the suspicions about her. Hell, when Dar had even the slightest doubts about Saul, he was having him packed off to the "basement" at Langley. Allison's chat with the Russian operative was chilling beyond belief. The phrases "we're pulling you from the field" and "you're damaged goods" didn't exactly paint a warm picture of a long life, did they? The fact that the Russians were willing to let thousands (or more) die in the gas attack as a way of marshaling world and, especially, US support to destroy ISIS was beyond chilling and the agent's cold, dispassionate explanation communicated that in no uncertain terms. It may be that Allison is on the run from both the Americans and the Russians at this point. Too bad she doesn't have what Tom Cruise's character had in "The Firm" as insurance against the mob, "I would say I am exactly like a ship carrying a cargo that will never reach any port. And as long as I'm alive, that ship will always be at sea, so to speak. ". Somehow, I don't see Allison as even having a dinghy. Any bets on who gets her first?
