Maybe it's more convenience for the stars and other people on the show who live in NY.

I thought a lot of productions were using Toronto as fake stand ins for NYC, to save money.

TV shows filmed in NY haven't used iconic locations that much. Do we see too many scenes in Central Park or shots of the skyline in TV shows? More in movies but not as much in shows, it seems. Maybe the city charges more for licenses at certain locations than others.

One show that did have some great cinematography of NY was Ugly Betty. They had a scene at some park with an ice rink. It wasn't Central Park but it was a great shot.

I agree, I'm burnout on shows set in places like NYC, LA and the use of Vancouver for anywhere else in the world, it just gets really boring. And I especially dislike shows that use Burbank/North Hollywood backlots over and over so many times that it doesn't matter which show it is or where the location is supposed to be, you know which backlot was used.

Not thrilled with the premier at all. I love this series, but if this season is about just politics, Quinn's recovery, and has Carrie defending arrested people all year, I'll be bored by week 2. Bit of a let down for me, at this point. I am hopeful it will pick up..

If it's not 24 enough (even though same executive producer), there will be a 24 reboot at some point this year.

Though without Jack Bauer.

‘Homeland’ Season 6, Episode 1: Carrie’s a Civilian — and a Brooklynite. NYT recap. She put lots of bullet holes in that Berlin train-station terrorist--as the TV recap showed. But Saul couldn't recruit her back into the CIA fold. I caught the duplicate preview showing on VOD a few weeks back, then watched parts of the show again Sunday--mainly to see if the VOD was the cause of the fuzzy PQ. Yesterday's Showtime seemed noticeably crisper, but the frequent camera filtering and selective focusing apparently made the VOD delivery far worse PQ-wise. -- John

Yeah, I'm not really interested in Quinn languishing all season in Carrie's one-bed psych ward eating canned food.

Despite all the neurological damage, strong medications, and physical therapy he's had, apparently all he needed was a peek at the video of his own chemical exposure to get his mojo back. It's a bit deus ex machina, but I would like to see him get back to business. Jack Bauer, indeed.

If Quinn is sidelined all season and the most action Carrie does is to advise the new president on the sly while Saul is the only one on the frontline, it will kind of kill the premise of the show.

Agreed, give Quinn his hazard pay and pension, send him out to pasture and get a new operator in there to take his place. I don't turn on this show to watch Carrie's darkened den of despair as she tends Quinn or listen to her high pitched whiney voice, shrieking, take your pill. Luckily there is the FF button and I hit it until Saul and the other CIA dude appears while Carrie goes silent and disappears from view.

I am a big Rupert Friend fan but agree that his character, Peter Quinn, has passed his sell by date. This being TV, though, I suspect that Quinn will be magically restored to glowing health and will soon by back at what he does best, kicking a** and taking names.

Amen. Enough already. I love this show but this season looks boring, slow, and frankly aggravating for me so far. Here's hoping they change it up soon.

I hate Carries role so far too.

Is Dar Adels role appointed by the Pres. Is Carried about to get Dar's role?

Perhaps, it is leaning in that direction. Carrie working for the Pres, and "taming" the CIA would be even more aggravating for me to watch IMO. I really hope they pivot here soon ...

I believe Peter Quinn is the brother of Rose's love, from the tv series "Two and a Half Men" whose name was Manne Quinn, which were pretty funny episodes.

I had the same problem getting episode 2. I get Showtime via Hulu and had just watched two episodes of "Detour" on Hulu in 1080p but the "Homeland" episode came up in what looked like 480p. My guess is that for Showtime the stream comes from Showtime's CDN which is probably swamped on Sunday nights. Even "The Affair" episode which I watched later in the evening was still low-res but last night I was able to get it at 1080p.

Quinn seemed to be listening to an Alex Jones like character on the radio. It will be interesting to see how that figures into the season.

Kind of expected Quinn, as his health improved, to have a 'conversation' with the dude that smashed him with a gun when he was in worse shape. Rememberd his violence in an earlier episode with the group criticizing his girlfriend in a restaurant. Now the ex-CIA assassin seems to be zeroing in on sneaky actions across the street. CIA VIP, Dar, seems linked in everywhere, so Carrie is even bugged dining out as a consultant to the woman president-elect. NYT recap. -- John

LOL so I guess the producers were listened to us and re-wrote Quinns role here. Seriously I didn't think we would have him being a helpless chap all season long.
Saul is at it again, with his nosing around. And the interaction between the P.E. and Dar is just amusing.

they're already taking a week off?...the new season just started...I understand it's Super Bowl Sunday but since Showtime is a premium channel it shouldn't matter as much because they replay the show so many times during the week...I haven't watched the new season yet but I'll probably catch up before Episode 4 airs

Doesn't everybody watch the Super Bowl? At least that's what TV execs think. I never do because I'm not into sports nor into what ads they are showing or half time entertainment. It's all about America drinks and passes out. No viewers left at the later hour.

my point was that Showtime replays Homeland multiple times during the week so the Sunday premiere shouldn't be as big of a deal as a network TV show
