Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne) seems to have it all figured out: she's got a beautiful home, a successful husband, two great kids, and a satisfying career as a psychotherapist. But when she catches her husband cheating, Dani's perfect world begins to unravel, and she is forced to find a way to keep her family, her finances and her sanity intact. Luckily, a chance encounter with the trainer of the local pro football team offers Dani a chance to show off her counseling skills, and before she can say "Hail Mary," Dani has taken on the team's star wide receiver as a patient and become the most sought-after therapist on Long Island.

Now, high-profile clients from athletes to entertainers to politicians are clamoring for Dani's unique brand of therapy during their moments of crisis. But though her career is reenergized, Dani soon discovers that balancing her workload and the new demands of single motherhood won't be easy. With two teenage kids driving her crazy, an obnoxious ex-husband stirring up trouble, and desperate patients constantly showing up on her doorstep, one thing's for sure: from here on out, Dani's going to have plenty of issues to tackle.

Anyone watching this?

I'm approaching my limit with USA shows and the only reason I tuned in to the pilot was because of Callie Thorne who I think is one of the sexiest and most energetic actors on television.

I'm surprised how much I enjoy this show. If you've seen In Treatment on HBO the therapy sessions in Roughness are fairly superficial and skew towards sentimentality, which isn't surprising considering it's another USA property, but because this show is a USA property I also think it's a lot of fun, thanks mainly to Thorne.

Out of all the USA shows this is one of the most successful at blending the lead character's job with their personal life and family characters. Unlike say Covert Affairs where Annie's personal life is wedged into episodes as if a cameo from Anne Dudek is a contractual obligation or In Plain Sight where the family was just an annoyance in the first season.

I saw the title and wondered why there was a thread on an 20-year old Scott Bakula movie! Not the same thing, I guess.

I still like this show but I wish they would concentrate all the storylines around the team. The weekly cases are not interesting at all but TK and Nico (and Xeno) are great.

Thematic title sequence is fun though. That's really the only part I like about the external case of the week

Thought the Pilot was one of the best starts to a new show I'd seen in a long time...Went down from there, picked back up until last night's episode had enough plot holes to drive a truck through. Callie is great, and I like Scott Cohn....Gotta remember it's USA which means "Blue Sky" La La La La La......IMO...1. Burn Notice.............. 2. White Collar 3. Nec. Roughness 4. Hamptons Doc. for the short skirts 5. Must be forgetting one or two...

Don't see why. It gets about 4.5 million viewers for USA and they've already indicated it was going to be renewed.

If you check iTunes today you'll also see this week's episode is in the top ten as well.

I'm starting to FF through any new patients that don't involve the team now and this week wasn't as hyper or funny as it was when it started.

I was upset with the writer. His guy character said he was doing a book on bonobo monkeys. Bonobo's are not monkeys, they're one of the four great apes, and along with humans a hominid.

I set up a timer for this show, and started watching about 3 weeks ago, 2 shows to go.

The Doc is sexy as hell imo, I like this show and glad to watch 2-3 episodes at a time.

If you like her and you have netflix on demand, you should check out Rescue Me. She's amazingly good, sexy and insane on that show.

TV Notes
USA Makes It a Summer Sweep, Renews 'Royal Pains,' 'Covert Affairs,' 'Necessary Roughness'
By Fred Schruers, TheWrap.com - September 15th, 2011

USA Network announced Thursday that it has renewed "Necessary Roughness," "Royal Pains" and "Covert Affairs," meaning all of the top-rated cable network's summer series have been re-upped.

The new 16-episode orders will activate season three of Covert Affairs, season four of Royal Pains and season two of Necessary Roughness. The renewals, which follow the season orders of White Collar, Suits, In Plain Sight and Burn Notice, were announced today by USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel.

USA's original programming blew through all expectations this summer. We had an unprecedented number of original series on our air -- and every single one of them was great, said McCumber and Wachtel. The actors who make our shows unique aren't just stars, they are character actors in the finest sense. Our writers, directors and producers truly understand what it takes to create sustainable success. It's a rare and wonderful thing to announce the pick-up of our entire summer of programming.

In citing the buoyant numbers for the various pickups, USA noted that Covert Affairs, co-produced by Doug Liman and with Piper Perabo in the lead role as a CIA operative, was the top series on cable Tuesdays this summer among viewers 25-54, total viewers and households, was second only to NBC in all of television on Tuesdays at 10pm in the demo groups of 18-49, 25-54, total viewers and households, beating ABC and CBS in viewers 18-34.

Surprised it got a new season though. I haven't been that impressed so far. Hopefully it will find a groove in season 2.

Yeah, it's not a very good show. But I'm happy for her that she's working. The episodes are always in the top 10 at iTunes, so I guess its doing alright regardless of what I think.

I'm enjoying most of this show. I like TK, I like Smash Williams, I like the team stuff, I don't even mind the kids and personal stuff.

But the patients are just an inane waste of space every week. Made worse by the fact that Dani appears to be the worst shrink in history. You can predict the root cause every week as soon as the patient has the first appointment. By the time Dani has her House epiphany 30 minutes later someone else could have written a paper on why it was so textbook and simple. The writing is so blatantly obvious.

Wow, I was barely watching at the end of last season but I caught some of the new season and they have gone full-on Lifetime. The football storyline was the one thing I enjoyed most (apart from Callie Thorne) but by ditching that and having TK wandering around in his own show they probably lost what little of the male demo they had.
