Sound just like what some here were saying after John's partner was blown up in the car - 'she's not dead, we didn't see her fly into pieces'.

Same thing here. He's dead Jim.

Might happen. Harold's machine (aka "Northern Lights") is probably only in one data center. Samaritan is housed in about 100 data centers all over the planet (as Root has explained). On the other hand, it could be that "The Machine" is no longer tied to one data center and is distributed throughout the world via software on many different computers. Your own computer at home or in your place of business might be part of it.

The machine could evolve like the one in a X-Files episode where Molder and Scully found the AI machine located in a trailer and it then transported itself somewhere else. At least that's how I remember it. Seems like a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. wink.gif

So, any creative thoughts on the Gang of 4 plus 3's new identities?
While the bad, bad side of me fantasizes Shaw as a stripper, instead, I fear that the writers will have her assume some nerdy identity similar to the one Finch gave her at the High School reunion.

Reese could pass as a taciturn bland accountant, although a return to street bum might be a better disguise with more invisible mobility.

Finch needs to stay away from any ornithological last names. Maybe hide out at nerdy sci-fi conventions.

Root as a librarian with thick glasses seems apropos, although for some sick depraved reason the recurrent exotic dancer theme also comes to mind.

My assumption is that next season will start by focusing on survival on an individual basis rather than the group, with the goal of a meet-up at some point (preferably in the first quarter or third of the season). Not sure how long the computer wizards will last. I get the feeling they are Star Trek "red shirts."

I wish they would go back to their roots/basics.

Wow...I could not disagree more! Shaw and Root have solidified my love for this show. Who doesn't like hot chicks with guns kicking butt? I'm just disappointed we don't see more Sexy Shaw undercover!

Seriously, We've seen Shaw develop a conscience of sorts. Root has been shown to be quite helpful and another way to look at the machine.

Root sees the machine as a living thing. Finch sees the machine as a tool. He never dreamed of the machine being more than it is. Root sees it as a god of sorts. Seeing this play out this season has made the show richer. Remember how shocked Finch was that the machine had found a way to get around the daily reboots? I look forward to see where learning about the machine takes us. Is it still just a tool or has it evolved? Finch seems to see the idea of any evolution by the machine as a threat of some sort. Root sees the evolution as a path to salvation of sorts. Without root, we wouldn't be getting this type of dialogue in the entertaining way we have over the last few months.

Shaw the mercenary with a heart of stone has been forced to evolve from time to time. It has been slow but steady.

This is a richer deeper show because of the points of view and emotional growth these characters have brought to the show.

I hate to disagree with a Babylon 5 fan but Root's talking to the machine really annoys me. I love Shaw but I think I am finally done with this show. The idea that you can sabotage a computer enough to make certain people appear non-threatening but not sabotage it worse is one of the many things wrong with this show lately.

The whole Vigilance thing made no sense at all, it would have been a lot easier for the Decima group to just stage a phony terrorist incident and claim that's why more security is needed than to go through a multi-year process of starting up an entire terrorist network of their own to bring down. I think the trial in the season finale helped show that the entire premise of the show seems to be that an all-seeing surveillance machine is good as long as it is controlled by nice people like Finch. I reject that premise.

Well, Root was planning on more then what she did by making them "non-relevent" (and the others even asked) but she ran out of time and had to work quickly to do what little she was able to do.

As for your last sentence, I don't agree at all.  In fact Finch doesn't like the machine at all the way it has evolved, but he's trying to make the best of the situation by trying to do some good with it.  The show very clearly shows the dangers and the evil of this type of surveillance which we now live with every day in real life which we ourselves have allowed to happen.  Because people are scared of what the big bad terrorists will do they give up their freedoms to this type of thing.  Happens every day in real life and the show is showing it on display.

POI does a great job showing the idealistic upside of The Machine that Finch's partner wanted to use for good. Finch was never comfortable about The Machine and is even less comfortable now. There's lots of different viewpoints presented about extreme surveillance which today is used as a major crime solver yet it intrudes into our privacy w/o permission.

The 2nd BIG issue the show is just entering into is what will the AI gods do regarding all those analog semi-computing entities running around on 2 legs?

This in many aspects is a sci-fi show and those anathema to SF may not like the themes next season.

Just thought of this. Remember back in the past when Root was killing folks referring to the folks she killed as "Bad code"?
So what if the Samaratin AI decides that humanity is "Bad code"?

So far The Machine has been like its creator Harold and eschewing killing. Notably it tamed its analog interface Root into no longer killing people.

OK, OK, one exception seemingly the politician but hey, who here would really mind them killing politicians? Suck it, NSA!

We were just watching Bullet to the head and the actress that plays Shaw is in it. Forgot how amazing she looked in that movie along with some nice nude scenes. She looks different then on POI.

Still wanted the Machine to make Shaw a pole dancer.

Person of Interest Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers: To Hide from Samaritan, Root and Shaw seem to have become cosmetics counter girls in their new identities?!
Person of Interest premieres September 23 at its regular Tuesday 10 PM time slot on CBS. Episode 1 is entitled Panopticon and it is directed by Richard Lewis based on a script written by Eric Mountain and Greg Plageman.

Panopticon, as noted in the Person of Interest Wiki, refers to an architectural form developed for prisons such that "one guard can keep all (pan-) under observation (-opticon), without the guard being observed. Panopticon is said to derive from the mythical Greek giant with a hundred eyes, Panoptes - the hundred eyes made him an effective watchman." It also "identifies a society or an area where all the citizens are under pervasive, ever-present observation by unobserved, but untiring entities."
