It looked like the German translation for Bear on CC.

They were a good band. I saw them at Convention Hall in Asbury Park in 1970.

According to Bear himself he's Dog the dog LOL

Tweets:
-Bespectacled man has my opinion on a high frequency decision not asked
-... I read a good paper on stochastic control theory I'd like to share
-TALL MAN. TALL MAN. LOOK AT ME. I MISS YOU. DO YOU HAVE A BALL? HI. TALL MAN. I LOVE YOU.
-What Samaritan? I have a secret identity? Dog the dog?
-Tall man rescued some books from the library for me! My mouth waters at the prospect
-I should not act suspicious. Because Samaritan. Instead of eating books, I will eat shoes
-Wait. I also need to eat the books. Less conspicuous. That's what "dog dog" would do
-Hooray, the park again. THE PARK. With my friends. AND PEOPLE. Hurray.
-All is to survive, with the exception of death. - Oscar Wilde
-Where are we going? This is a strange route for our evening constitutional.

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

Negative.

The Machine has everything to do with it. The servers are controlled by the Machine. There is nothing you could put on a few servers that would outsmart, adapt to and circumvent what Samaritan can do. They don't have the computing power nor the ability to compete with Samaritan's power. The servers are the Machine's back door to Samaritan so the Machine can actively run interference. The Machine is the only other system that stands a chance against Samaritan.

Actually, Harold speaking Dutch to Bear; Bear is trained to respond to Dutch command words. Or had you forgotten?

That assumes there is a communication path between those servers and the Machine, which given these servers are inside Samaritan, would lead back to the Machine. That would have grave consequences for the eventual discovery of the Machine's location(s). Root had her tech guys program those servers to be autonomous, granted with initial guidance from the Machine. But once they were placed inside Samaritan, they've had to act on their own. Could the Machine feed updates to them by manipulating the data feed to Samaritan? Possibly but again that is very dangerous and the Machine has to protect itself, so that mechanism exists, it used very very infrequently.

The is no need for the server to out smart Samaritan. Give the number of servers that make up Samaritan, it must operate as a distributed system. Also given that these systems are within Samaritan itself, the data they provide is implicitly trusted. I assume Samaritan is structured so each its server eventually learns to be an "expert" in a restricted set of data. Most of Samaritan would then be shuttling data among experts until a conclusion is reached. However, the servers installed by root are "expert" in identifying our protagonists so data concerning them gets funneled to them. They generate a no-threat consensus that the rest of Samaritan trusts. There is no need for the Machine to communicate with them since the Machine generated the new persona's for each of them and had them ingrained into the to-be-installed servers before taking them to be part of Samaritan.

Yep, Bear speaks Dutch, not German.

Like many of the rest of you I loved the season premier. It's always fun to see Root and Sam decked out in designer clothes. The girls cleanup very well. In addition to the pleasant scenery, though, the season premier showed what is best about the series, humor with a little warmth and sadness mixed with it. For example, I thought Reese's expression before sitting down at Carter's old desk was well done. There was other good stuff, too, particularly Elias being enlisted by the team. Good choice. Sometimes I think Elias has more powers than The Machine and Samaritan combined.

I don't know about Shaw, but I would love to see someone plant a big fat wet one on Sarah. And to tell her it's for her, not the other 'gal'.

That may be the case as later written but Root explained the servers as devices that simply provide false, non-threatening IDs for the seven. The show has said nada about a risky back door controlled by the Machine.

So what do we think Harold found in the subway? Samaritan's hardware? Or his machine's (which went awol a couple seasons back)?

Harold found a new batcave in the subway underground to replace his Library hangout. It might be a fiber optic hub or something equally convenient, where telephone activity cannot be traced. Got to get the show back on the formula that was so successful.
