Not sure I caught that myself. I kept wondering the whole time why he was in China. I guess we'll soon find out if he "took" her laptop to plant a virus that Samaritan will get or to find out what she was up to. Could be some interesting directions the show could take in the coming weeks.

One guess is that Harold had his "talk" with The Machine and Das Machine told him what to do re: Hong Kong.

No comment about this weeks graphics? I think the machine is reasserting it (her)self. The graphics were back to the original machine graphics not Samaritan's graphics.

Love the new lady. Oh, that voice, that glance, that everything. I think Finch will fall in love with her.

I almost forgot about the machine and the other people and stuff.

Not likely. Her philosophy is "The ends justify the means." That's why Samaritan is interested in her work. Finch wants to stop her.

This show is so great. You think you are watching one thing then they do the metaphoric Inception gong and they take you deeper down the rabbit hole. Love the scenes with number making a meta comment about Reece being a super-hero which is what many fans compare the show to. Then you get the awesome showdown between Dominic and Ellias which you think would have the biggest plot mover of the show. Yet there is still more as we see the first major counter-offensive Finch has taken against Samaritan.

From the moment I saw Beth Bridges (played by Jessica Hecht) I thought she had slight resemblance to Root (Amy Acker).

"How do you do that with your voice?"

"Do what?"

I agree that Bridges, as portrayed by Hecht, is similar to Acker's Root in that both can affect sweetness so convincingly, it could melt the Grinch's heart. But we know better in both cases, don't we?

I thought the same thing. She could easily pass as Root's mother. The look, voice and mannerisms were eerily similar.

It's a good thing they didn't. I really don't like the entire Samaritan angle, and almost just deleted this week's show without watching it and cancelled future recordings. I didn't realize that it was Samaritan driving that until the very end. Just seeing that part of the show pop up at the end changed my impression of the episode from very positive to just positive.

I thought Root was the only one interacting directly with the machine?

Remember the ending of the previous episode. After Root told Harold that he was in effect the conscience of The Machine, then Harold went up to the video camera and spoke to The Machine saying something like, "We need to talk".

I kind of figured Harold was not going to Hong Kong just to give a lecture because his dean told him to. There is always an agenda with him.

I'm liking this nefarious Dominic character. Nice replacement for HR.

Only other comment I have is that I thought the ADR in the last scene with Elias and Dominic was terrible. The guy playing Elias was clearly speaking loudly over all the noise when they shot the scene, but the ADR was normal conversational voice. And the separation there was really apparent.

FYI, no new episode tonight due to election coverage.

That's what you THINK is the reason.

I say that Samaritan is behind this.

Let's get to the root of the problem.

A little Root to tide us over:

Yep and they reinforced that with the flashbacks showing Finch's first efforts to get the Machine to not go apesh*t on humans. He is the only person the Machine relies on for guidance.

I thought last night's show started a bit slow. I wasn't into the story with Shaw and the crook until it go to the point he stole a case full of a deadly virus, then it got real interesting. I have to wonder if the crook or the two people that used to work with Shaw wind up coming back into another episode toward the end of the season.

I thought Shaw said to him that he might work out with their group or something like that.

Why is it all the episodes with Ruth in the thick of it always end up being a notch higher? She didn't do much in this episode but the whole thing rocked from beginning to end

You mean Root, I assume. Loved her as a blond. Too bad she was a nanny instead of a French maid.

You're probably right. I was getting really tired and may have missed some things. I kept it on my DVR so I can watch it again.

He might. He's an out and out thief, but he has a conscience - stealing jewels is one thing, but stealing virulent virus strains that can commit mass murder is quite another. Dang, I wish Hersh was still around.

Samaritan is a pretty intuitive machine. It could tell the lady Root knocked out and impersonated (right down to hair, dress and shoes) was not the same person because of her 'gait', i.e. the way she walked.

It did start slow but got better and I think was one of the better episodes recently.

It sure looks like our team is building some alliances with others that may be able to help them by season's end. Next week's episode promises to be interesting.

Uh Uh, Shaw's in big trouble, but I trust she will escape this time, she's a gun draw away from expiring, hoping she has one in that purse. Unless Samaritan blonde won't kill her in public.
