Nah, the real 4th law is:

A Fringe alum is now a Person of Interest.
Blair Brown — who played multiple versions of Nina Sharp on the defunct Fox series — will appear in a February episode of the CBS drama as Emma, an elegant and warm former public school teacher, IGN reports.

An image of Blair from when broke big on the scene years ago.

That ratcheted things up in a rather chilling episode. The future don't look promising for our intrepid agents.

Specially Shaw, but why they just want to kill her? they also seen a Root, Finch and Reese and they can go out in the city with no problems.

I was like Bear with Shaw!

Didn't know Shaw was so picky with the food, after way earlier she was eating a steak with her bare hands.

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

The writers need to explain better why Samaritan is locked into Shaw and can recognize her when she's above ground compared to Root and Finch as it was clear in this episode that the latter two were within its sights as well.

At the end of last season Root uploaded a hack to Samaritan which made the team "people are of no interest". As in "these droids are not the droids we're looking for". I don't know the details but perhaps Shaw was not included. Or since then, she has done something egregious that put her back in Samaritans wheelhouse.

On another note, I was so hoping Reese, in the choir loft, would put a round in the blond assassin.

Samaritan can not recognize Shaw that was demonstrated during the firefight in the department store. Samaritan did put enough together to alert its human operatives who tracked down the anomaly.

No, they showed that Shaw WAS included in the servers that blinded Samaritan.

Samaritan's human operatives have seen both Shaw AND Root.

The show needs to better explain why Shaw in particular is at risk.

They obliquely hinted at this when they said that Root had many mask IDs while the others (e.g. Shaw) have only one. This needs to be re-emphasized. Why this is the case remains unexplained except that as The Machine's "Analog Interface" Root is special.

I enjoyed that conversation between the AIs very much. It was the nice quiet tension-filled verbal showdown I was waiting for. It did not disappoint.

I'll waste parts of my day scouring the internet for interviews about what is upcoming. Looks like more than one member of the team is going to catch a bullet based on the preview for next year.

There was an earlier episode where she was clocked on a security camera being a threat to the Samaritan team when they were both after something in a fault and the good guys got to it before the Samaritan team did and there was a shootout when they were leaving. I know that's vague but I don't remember the details, what I do remember is as the camera was coming back online(it had been disabled) it caught an image of her and in fact a later scene shows the machine working to reconstruct her image. I think at that point she may have become a new threat and then was linked back to the previous data Samaritan had on her.

^^^ That makes sense but I wish they would spell it out clearly more often. You can say the same thing for Root and Reese after the last episode where they were clearly out in the open backing up Root with Samaritan watching. They should have been easily locked in by Samaritan's facial tracking. In the church scene Reese was on the balcony with his badge clearly showing on his waist and the bad guys looking up at him.

I know this is just nitpicking on a show that that is clearly on the best on broadcast tv

Agreed.....although one of my co-workers got lost as to who is who between the past and the present. I had to admit that I thought that all the British actors looked alike. I had to explain the next day who everyone was and what it all showed about how Grier became who he is today.

The Glorious Amy Acker talks!!

Person of Interest just ended its fall season with a hell of a cliffhanger. What happens next? We won't know until January 6, when the next episode airs. But Amy Acker, who plays Root, tells us that episode was their most challenging to film. And she also tells us the big question that lies beneath the show's fourth season.

Sorry, I have not read all previous post, but this show is by far, one of the more realistic examples of why we should fear A.I.

I'm wondering that, with all the talk and episodes recently of The Machine vs. Samaritan and how they affect Root, Shaw and Harold, are Reese and Fusco becoming less 'relevant' (quotes mine) to the show? Could we be losing one or both of them in the near future?

God help us but it better. I cannot stand seeing another heretofore excellent show turn out like BSG "And they have a plan" where the writers and producers turn out to not have a freaking clue.

Anyone else have a tingle go down their leg hearing hot geek Amy mention Elon Musk and his AI concerns & plans?

Beat me to it.
I'm a computer guy who watched MIT's Minsky, et. al. starting in the 70s prattle on about how AI is only a decade away, step & repeat. I have no scientific idea if AI is possible or if it is decidedly not as Roger Penrose and others insist but if AI is possible it represents a potentially grave threat to human existence or at least independence.

Musk & others are right to be concerned about what either an unrestrained, unbridled AI or a malevolent AI could do.

We need a "Root" to hard code the Three Laws of Robotics into EVERY AI's infrastructure.
Miss just one, and...
