Now this ep is what POI is about!

Finally a great episode after all the weeks off and that last boring Carter ep.

Maybe Samaritan told them not to. Like Martine was being set up for the kill. Well, that's what happened. Buh Bye, Martine.

Nice knowing you. Not.

I have been thirsting to see Martine get hers for a long while so it was a pleasure to see Root dispatch her so efficiently.

Definitely did not see that neck snap coming. That was awesome!

I honestly still fail to see what Greer's motives are and why he or anyone would want this. When they did his backstory, he seemed like an okay guy who didn't want to be controlled and told what to do. Now he's fine being a puppet in an AI's attempt to take over? Even he himself said it was arrogant to think they (humans) were important.

What an awesome season finale! Having the Machine inhabit the power grid was certainly a bit far fetched but ingenious nonetheless. Using the Pink Floyd song was bang on. Been expecting it to turn up at some point during the series.

Now that the organized crime bosses are gone, who will be the next non-AI villain?

This episode certainly did not show any signs of expecting a cancellation!

I agree on the part about the Machine being on the grid. At least it was interesting that it was talking to John.

I actually found the end of the Elias-Dominic saga to be a bit distracting considering everything else that was going on.

That's probably why they concluded that story arc, as there were more pressing issues with Samaritan/the machine/etc.

I don"'t think we should assume the end of Elias just yet. The last scene showed him hurt, but not definitely dead like Dominic.

I'd say pretty strong assumption Elias wasn't killed off. Producers wouldn't say one way or another in interview here:

http://tvline.com/2015/05/05/person-...chine-rebuilt/

Bigger question seems to be whether the show will be renewed, considering ratings have dropped substantially.

It should be safe. CBS has bigger worries than POI...

Edit> Yikes! After I posted I saw last night's drop to 1.1 - that is pretty scary...

The drop (from 1.4 IIRC?) is mystifying. The Forever (doomed from the get-go) finale at the same time hit a multi-week high to tie POI. Fallout from the horrible Carter flashback episode maybe? Or maybe Shaw's absence kicked in?

I've lost interest in so many shows this year - this is one of the few I was relying on for another season at least...

Don't worry. Every show is down. Next day ratings are so 2000. The total number is good and they are pretty much fighting neck in neck with a pretty strong show in Chi Fire.

More and more people do not sit in front of a tv to watch live unless it's sports. I watched POI off dvr after the warriors game. In fact I haven't watched a tv show live since the advent of the multi tuner dvr in 2001. With so many cord cutters, cbs all access subscribers, and folks buying per season it's hard to pin down exactly how many people are watching shows. The Live + 30 numbers are more accurate of popularity these days.

I am hoping for a renewal but that last scene where the gang marching toward the bad guys blasting away was a perfect end to a series finale. They saved their bacon and are still determined to bring down Samaritan.

The machine distributing itself on the power grid reminded me of the scene X-Files where Mulder and Scully found the computer in the trailer and once they saw it, it redistributed itself in the power grid. Or something like that, it was many years ago.

Was the machine communicating with Reese thru his bluetooth earpiece?

In space, no one can hear you scream . . .

Samaritan's final plan reminded me a lot of "Colossus: The Forbin Project," where the humans thought they had a chance to stop the machine when the machine was really 100 steps ahead.

Nice use of the Pink Floyd song.

The machine talking to John was neat but the scene where he exits the buildig and fires the smoke canisters is a complete rip from a scene in Terminator 2 right down to the camera angle and his facial expression.

Elias is most likely dead but there's a possibilty he could come back.

He is an idealist. Misguided from my view but there are many real life people in movements like extreme environmentalists who regard humanity as a plague worthy of removal. At least Greer is pro humanity, believing that Samaritan is doing what it does for the greater good. Likewise Control ruthlessly murders people (starting with Harold's partner) because she believes that she's protecting the country from terrorists.

I think the show's creators are making the point that misguided idealism most often leads to very bad actions.

Loved the finale as always.

Root was right. Martine was better as a blonde.

Reese in God mode...I remember his 1st experience with GM at the season ender 2years ago when he answered the phone & shot his way out via clock directions.

When is Harold Birman gonna get a clue and realize that his Machine is not an uncaring amoral entity like his 1st several AI attempts?

Elias' character was superb start to finish.

Glad to see the distracting Brotherhood sub-plot over.

Only disappointment was not seeing the obnoxious Harper character meet a grisly death.

To be fair it's not a show you can jump in after 3 seasons and just start watch and know what is going on. A true procedural like Law and Order or NCIS etc go on and on and on because in syndication you can be channel flipping and it comes on and you can watch that 1 hour of TV and know exactly what is happening.

This show is completely non syndication friendly, and if you don't binge watch the previous seasons to catch up you have no hope of following what is going on if you jump in.

Interesting note on the ratings, may depend on what audience CBS covets. For example, POI did a 1.1 for 18-49 but had 8.18 million viewers live and same day. Chicago Fire did a 1.6 for 18-49, but only had 6.76 million, so POI's audience, like many CBS shows, skews to an older demographic. The other 10 PM show, Forever, matched POI's 1.1 but only had 4.13 million overall viewers.

Good points - shows like POI (Fringe maybe?) probably don't have the syndication value of the ridiculous CSI Cyber. OTOH they might well have more value for subscription-based streamers...

And old viewers do have some value to advertisers, albeit significantly less than 18-49...

Right, and that's a growing business while syndicated drama is declining, especially in the 18-49 demo where animated comedy shows rule...

If CBS cut it, I also bet Netflix could pick it up or another online franchise...

Loved the Pink Floyd song, very appropriate and even shed a tear when the machine called Harold "father"

FWIW the Hawaii Five-O finale also tanked - CBS's domination seems to be crumbling faster than a herd of turtles in a brush fire...
