The first four seasons are available on DVD from my library.

Did you really need to quote that entire post in your reply?

CBS doesn't own the show. It is owned by JJ Abrams and Jonathan Nolan through Bad Robot Productions and Kilter Films. CBS owns the first-run TV rights. CBS has blocked streaming of almost all of their fall TV shows, however. (Why they allow the Summer shows to stream after airing is anybody's guess.) Since they don't own this show, I wonder what the hold up was.

JJ on season 5. Basically saying what we already know, season 5 is the end on CBS. It was written as a series finale but they could talk to other networks after this and they left wiggle room in the finale to continue it.

Good news. At least Abrams is open to the possibility of continuing the series:

Quote:
While official word about POI's fate has not been determined — CBS will present at TCA next week — Abrams admitted that producers would be open to shopping the series to another outlet. "Those are discussions that, in theory, will be had in the right time. But at the moment that’s not what we’re doing," he said.

As a follow on maybe they could have a story line with The Machine randomly phoning up different viewers each week for their assistance.
On second thought....

Yes, but Robby DID make a guest appearance on at least one episode of Lost in Space. Had a cameo in Gremlins too.

Apparently they were filming a couple miles from me today at Gold Coast Studios on Long Island. People nearby were warned that they may hear some explosions. Think the reports were that they were blowing up a car.

Apparently not. Seemed like it was going to start in January and have a non-stop run into May. That obviously isn't the case. Looking more like a summer showing. I guess that's a good way to keep another network from picking it up.

The cast and crew have said their goodbyes already, and the sets have been torn down, however POI director Chris Fisher said recently that "Sets are made of wood, they can always go back up. As long as someone wants to keep making it we will be ready" and "Our "set" is the city of New York, and that will last forever" and while he doesn't know the specifics, if there is a 6th season, the cast will be back.

It's really a shame what they let POI become. At one point lots of people at work watched POI, it made up much water cooler talk, but the last few years it really went down hill and most people bailed. I continued to watch and for the most part liked it but very few others did nor knew what was going on, so the water cooler talk on this show basically came to an end

ABC is known for cannibalizing their own programs; looks like CBS is starting to do the same. Though I think if more shows planned out an ending from the beginning, they'd end well, instead of wandering aimlessly.

The problem is that POI was really not a CBS program. It's produced by Warner Brothers TV who own the syndication rights. That means that the only money CBS makes off of POI is in advertising and when the ratings started declining, so was their revenue. So, an awful and low rated program that CBS owns the rights to probably makes more money than POI. So, the reason they cut the cord was purely a financial decision.

Yeah, well...it's always comes down to money over art, but what do I know? One thing for sure: I personally wouldn't do any deals with Warner; those people are evil, IMO.

I thought the opposite. The first season was "the monster of the week", after that, we finally got a story.
