Last night show was pretty slow until Schmdit and Winston did the trial run casket run. From then on it was one laugh out loud moment after the other. From Schmidt stopping the necklace theft, to Winston breaking down next to the casket, and even Nick's speach was emotional.
Wow...Had the exact opposite reaction. My wife and I watched the episode and then remarked to each other how episodes with heavy themes like this ruin a comedy.
Thought it had some funny moments (Nick getting stuck in the balloons, Nick's mispronunciation of 'eulogy' Schmidt calling Winston a black butterfly and Winston telling him to start over), had some touching moments between Nick and Jess, and Winston and Schmidt, but overall I didn't enjoy the episode.
It's going to be interesting to see where the Jess/Nick relationship storyline goes because to me it seemed like once she did the Elvis thing, mom accepting and the look he gave her at the end that its going down that road of them being in a relationship, curious to see how that plays out in a show like this based on roomates.
OTherwise the episode was pretty good, not the best not the worst. I loved the rehearsal schmidt and Winston did, Jess saving the day was pretty predictable really I would give it a 6 out of 10 overall.
Yeah, it was really funny- I replayed it a few times- you had to watch till the very end of the credits and it actually had faded to black and was audio only at that point.
I just pictured Jess turning to Nick then uttering the "ruh-roh" line
Looking back- New Girl has improved considerably since it's start to a constantly enjoyable show. It's very refreshing to see a comedy that actually gets smarter as it ages. Once they cut out Jess's goofy/capricious behavior the series really took off.
In comparison, the other 'Girl' show, 2 Broke Girls has gone nowhere if not down quality wise since it's launch and constantly dips into the old joke bag of just saying body parts as many times as they can for laugh.

I thought the first 2 or 3 episodes weren't so good but since then its been at least solid every week. Actually, with Community being pretty mediocre this season, New Girl has become my favorite sitcom.
2 Broke Girls is just Two and a Half Men with women in the lead, but somehow even dumber. I've watched maybe 3 episodes.

Since Charlie left- I stopped watching Two and a Half Men. If it weren't for Kat D. I wouldn't watch 2 Broke Girls either- it's just not that funny/interesting.
As an Eddie Murphy fan, I can't make the link between him and Winston either. I don't get the relevance of wearing the Murphy-inspired red leather outift. The episode was great though. Probably the best comedy on TV right now.
We finally watched the latest episode. Pretty funny parts.
The only thing I'm having trouble with is that Nick and Schmidt are completely unbelievable as human beings. I know TV characters sometimes are exaggerated for comedy's sake, but people never act like that.
Anyone else think Cece won't actually be married? They've tried to make her fiance likable and whatnot, but it doesn't fit in with the overall theme of the characters?
My favorite line from last night was Winston, looking down from the air con grate: "Boobies!"
