IMHO Of course this is "dramatic": any situation or series of events having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking interest or results.

Procedurals are dramatic almost by default.

I certainly do recognize the elements of fantasy, and romance in the series, but, to me, the prime characteristic is drama.

Great episode!

Waiting until 2013 for the next episode is rough but this show has proven that it's worth the wait.

Also have to say that Fridays with Fringe, Haven and Grimm, are probably my favorite evening of TV, very unique fare when viewed against the rest of the week.

This week demonstrates what I was talking about. If every episode was this good, the show would be worth watching repeatedly. The procedural stories are just dull filler in comparison.

That was so funny. My wife HATES "to be continued" so she got a kick out of the "Sorry" part.

I was chuckling when "SORRY" popped up on the screen.

Have they renewed the show for next season yet? The show is certainly good enough (superior by far than some other NBC drek like Revolution by leaps and bounds), I would hate to see it cancelled because of poor ratings.frown.gif

Yes, it has been renewed.
Apparently, NBC is quite happy with the numbers it has been pulling down....smile.gif

Yeah, it's been doing better ratings-wise this year than last. I think it was in the 1.0-1.5 range last year in the 18-49s, this year it's been in the 1.5-2.0 range.

That's not surprising, considering the mid-season finale was written by Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, both of whom wrote for Angel. Greenwalt co-created both that series and Grimm.

What was surprising is how long it took to get here. smile.gif But its all good. The show has been picking up steam from the end of the first seaon, the 2nd has been very good...and a few more like this one and the show will be great...which is pretty much what I expect with Greenwalt involved. Totally agree with your earlier comments about the police procedural part of it. Hopefully they will be doing more Grimmcentrict episodes and less standard cop stuff.

Monroe: Are you going to arrest them or what?"

Nick: "or what."

Need more of that.smile.gif

That's sort of the problem. The mid-season and season finales delve into interesting territory, whereas everything in between is just procedural filler. I expect two or three episodes into the second half of the season in January we'll go right back to the "safe" weekly format. I'd wager that the clip of Nick finding out Sean's identity is from the final or penultimate episode of the season. We're probably not going to get the good stuff again until they've burned six more Wesen-induced murder plots.

In my ideal fantasy world, I'd like to think that Sean and Juliette will become a part of the Scooby gang, Nick will realise that being a Grimm is a full-time job, quit the police force, start an Angel-esque PI firm, Hank will come with him out of loyalty, and we can ditch the annoying crime drama stuff permanently. It will never happen, but it's nice to dream about every episode being as good as these bridge ones.

I just want to see Greenwalt let it all hang out. There have been hints of his talent in earlier episodes but this one was the first that really seemed like his from beginning to end, and that changes my whole outlook on the show. The man can get dark...I mentioned Profitt much earlier in the thread, a show WAY ahead of its time and maybe the strangest ever to be on a broadcast network. Plus the whole character of Angel was his idea, and Whedon has said Greenwalt took Buffy to a lot darker place than he had ever conceived of it going. I don't think Greenwalt ever got enough credit for his role in creating both Buffy and Angel, and both shows struggled a bit after he left. I expected a lot from Grimm when it started and posted several negative comments about it when it turned out to be a generic cop show...Now its becoming what it should have been from the beginning, imo.

No, but that's okay, because neither does Juliet.

Seriously, please get rid of that storyline in the next few episodes.

I wonder if the ratings will take a dive this week to foreshadow what will happen when Revolution comes back on the 25th. I guess I'll have to read plot summaries on Wikipedia to remember anything about this show.

Since they aren't running the Fall finale as a refresher, I regret not saving it on DVR.  I had to go refresh my memory, but then realized it was a memorable cliffhanger, after all.  I'm ready.
