Picture quality looks fine. Watching on Fox 25-WFXT (Boston) on Comcast clear QAM in W. Yarmouth, MA. By the way, expect a major rain delay in the next half hour to an hour in Arlington, TX. Some major thunderstorms are really close to hitting the DFW Metroplex

I don't think the picture is tight at all. It looks perfectly frame for 16:9/letterbox. I remember in previous times, watching HD feeds of sports, it looks like the action was really far away just to appease non HD viewers. Tim McCarver is out for Games 1 & 2 of the ALCS due to a medical procedure. Expect him to be back for Game 3. Francona is just pinch hitting for McCarver.

And the FOUL!

Really love hearing Terry Francona doing the game with Joe Buck, it would be nice to hear Terry during the '12 season on fox!

The main pitcher batter camera has noticeable video grain and swimming grass effect from the digital compression artifacts.
You can notice the artifacts on the graphics to.

Agreed, Francona is a welcomed change. Fresh, insightful, we've endured McCarver too long...

It's rainning in Arlington.

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

Terry Francona replaces Fox's Tim McCarver for ALCS games 1, 2

Fox lead analyst Tim McCarver will not call Games 1 and 2 of the American League Championship Series, which begins Saturday -- and will be replaced by ex-Boston manager Terry Francona.

Ex-Red Sox manager Terry Francona will temporarily replace Tim McCarver of Fox MLB games. Fox says McCarver will have a "minor heart-related procedure" this week. "Tim is feeling fine," says Fox spokesman Dan Bell. "It's a follow-up to a check-up. We expect him to be ready for the ALCS Game 3."

PQ looks surprisingly good (and I'm a 720p hater)

Graphics look soft and a bit large. Agree Francona is a refreshing change to McCarver.

Watching WJW Cleveland OTA on a 50" 1080p display.

Took a few minutes to adjust to the FOX image quality, after the TBS games. Francona was very good, I thought.

Game looked fine for the local rangers market FOX affiliate KDFW FOX 4 Dallas via Time Warner Cable in HD. 720p looked very good on a 1080i TV.

Francona wasn't really comfortable but it's nice to have an announcer that is still involved in the game. He provided real insight instead of the usual baseball cliches.

Be advised that tonight's game has been postponed due to rain. The game will be played tomorrow afternoon at 4:19 PM on Fox. Considering that the Lions play Monday Night Football tomorrow, it will be the perfect day for the Michigan sports fan.

Game 2 of ALCS postponed until Monday

By Louie Horvath / MLB.com | 10/09/11 3:21 PM ET

ARLINGTON -- Game 2 of the American League Championship Series between the Rangers and Tigers was postponed on Sunday afternoon in advance of the 6:45 p.m. CT scheduled start time at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Rangers grounds crew chief Dennis Klein, citing a 90 percent chance of rain this evening, said the game would be rescheduled to a 3:19 p.m. CT first pitch on Monday afternoon.

Klein also said the weather was looking "beautiful" for Monday.

We should flood FOX that we like Francona better than McCarver. I think it would also be cool for FOX in future LCS's to replace McCarver with a manager (i.e. for next year, replace McCarver on the NLCS with a NL manager who was in the wild card chase up until the end of the season when his team was eliminated). That way, you have a manager who knows the league that FOX is broadcasting and one who obviously has managing skills because his team was in playoff contention up until the final days of the season.

I'd take McCarver back if it included the PQ and artful camera work from TBS.

Fox has the CF camera locked on the rubber, where TBS defaults to well down the back of the mound, but better, the CF operator tends to start wide and subtly push in as the pitcher goes into his motion. This is my first year (after 22 OTA only) of sat TV, so I notice these things

DirecTV/Lexington, KY - normal programming looks like always, but the live feed, even the pre-game studio stuff is horrid. Soft, noisy, weirdly dark and artifacts up the wazoo.

Eve: I thought I was through getting involved with men who were trouble. Falling in love on a look. I can't look at you.

Mickey: You have perfection about you. Your eyes have music. Your heart's the best part of your body. And when you move, every man, woman and child is forced to watch.

help!
between the rain delays/reschedules and dish not updating their programming guide on a daily basis, i have no idea what the schedule is for today, tomorrow and the rest of the week. thanks a lot dish for not supporting your customers.

so far i saw the first half of the game between rangers/tigers. then we had rain delay and my dvr recording of the game ended so presumably they waited for the rain to end and finished the game. was it a full 9 innings? all i know is rangers won 3-2.

i recorded what was supposed to be brewers/cardinal game on my dish guide yesterday but just got some old movie. did they move the time. what was the score. who played and pitched well.

i have no idea at this point who is playing and when.

The only reason Francona is on the FOX broadcast is because McCarver is recovering from minor heart surgery: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...s_mlb&c_id=mlb

Francona as a manager is a highly sought after commodity and it's highly unlikely he'll be in the broadcast booth very long.

For those of you who really dislike McCarver, whom I'm not one of, take a peek here: http://www.shutuptimmccarver.com/

Enjoying Francona in the booth, nice to have someone who still holds some joy for the game. Even better, he actually is awake and aware that it's no longer 1970. Now if we could just wipe the smug off of Buck's face and delivery...
