Let the good times roll (bad pun intended). smile.gif

I enjoyed it as well. Definitely like the new characters, the newspaper woman Louise, and although he was only on screen for a very brief time, the sociopathic Major Bendix looks to be a very interesting character indeed.

There was too many movies on tonight. I'm recording the 2:30 AM rebroadcast (late, I know) and will watch later.

I enjoyed the 2-hour premiere immensely and the new characters, especially the newspaper lady, will add interest to the show as the season wears on. By the way, are "they" just trying to make us think the Swede is still alive, and was that he who whacked Louise and who we saw a rear glimpse of a bit earlier in the show? Whoever the guy is, he could be the Swede with hair.

Bohannon showed he still has flaws since he was attempting to avail himself of the "charms" of the young Mormon girl.

The RR Marshall was an interesting character also... the News lady reminds me a little of Lilith from Cheers.

I thought it was a pretty decent beginning. The new soldier is a very interesting character and superbly acted.

I thought it was a solid beginning. Bohannen (however he spells it) still looks amazing in that part.

When watching the portions about the Mormon family in this episode, did anyone notice if Cullen Bohannon mentioned that his deceased wife, Mary, was also Mormon? I watched it "live" so don't have a DVR copy to check.

No, she was not Mormon. He and Mary were married by the preacher that we saw in the church in NYC....

Yes, I know who married them, BUT, here is a direct quote from the Wikipedia entry about Cullen Bohannon:

"Bohannon is believed to have been raised by a wealthy southern family. He eventually inherited his families tobacco farm in Mississippi, as well as all of the slaves attached to it. He also reveals that he was essentially raised by a slave after the passing of his mother, and thus treated his very well; he even gave his slaves freedom a year before the war began, namely due to the fact this his wife Mary Bohannon was Mormon and against slavery."

Does Common ever change facial expression in 3 seasons?

I agree. The two hour season premiere was only so so. I thought it was good enough to keep me watching, though. I really like Anson Mount and Colm Meaney and I want to see more of the actress playing the reporter.

Yes, the whole "headless Indian" explanation reminded me of the scene in The Searchers where John Wayne shoots the eyes out of the dead Indian causing his soul to wander forever "between the winds."

Has anyone else noticed that Dominique McElligott is still getting screen credits in Season 3?

Maybe Lily Bell is not actually dead. Perhaps a pregnant Lily was hidden by Bohannon to protect her reputation - or to prevent Durant from claiming the child.

Age? It looks like about 2-3 months of hair growth, to me. About a winters' worth.

I'm with you (maybe even more than 2 -3 months). He was bald before, so it was hard to tell how old he was.

I agree with both statements except his hair is grey now, before he was bald- it was black.

All of this happened in around a year?

Very possible.

He's been under quite a lot of stress...which has been know to cause people to go grey very quickly. Just the leap he took off the bridge might have been enough.

Couple of things regarding last night's episode:

1. I was very apprehensive when Eva ran out of the tent after Elam without taking the baby. Looks like I had a basis for my concern.

2. Conversely, when the Swede was chasing the Mormon boy and yelling, "Fee, Fi, Fo, Foy, I smell the blood of a Mormon boy," I was worried about the boy's safety, especially when he was wearing the father's black hat. I still fear that family may be in peril. I'd be very surprised if the Swede is now walking the path of righteousness.

I suspect that the Swede smells money on the Mormons. His ears perked up when he heard about the man being made Bishop. Even in those days, Mormons were known for their relative wealth. He's sniffing around for a chance to steal. Of course, leaving no witnesses would be part of the plan.

I’m a little confused - I deleted the previous episodes so I can’t go back, but I thought that Eva’s baby took after Elam more so than Mr Toole when she was first born. This past episode she looks fair skinned, like Mr Toole. Granted my baby girl was as red as an apple when she was first born, but I thought the baby was Elam’s… now she looks like Mr Toole’s.

What am I missing here?

Great season so far. After Breaking Bad this is right up there with Justified for me.

Agree completely. Great season thus far. Must see TV for me. I don't think it was ever established that the baby was Elam's or Mr Toole's. All I can remember is the comment that it was too soon to tell.
