And they made a bit of a joke about that. Durant told Bohannon that the world would never hear about him, but Durant would always be remembered.

Is that where she will go though ? I remember Mei telling the lady that 'discovered' that Mei wasn't a male (called her "little sister") about this place or this minister. Is this where slaves, prostitutes, etc go if they return to China ? I presume they can't return to their families out of shame or they're all dead (killed) ?

Not terrible but not anywhere near great either. First five minutes were fun. No real surprises and we already knew about Durant.

As a Civil War historian the lines from Custer about him and Forrest at Bull Run made me cringe. Totally fabricated. Forrest was never in Virginia.

Not a Civil War historian here, but the name rang a bell with me.... Forrest Gump was named after Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Personally, I found the Finale excellent and a fitting end to a show I will really miss ..

I thought the show could have ended a year ago or so, but that being said, I did think the finale was pretty good and really liked the Durant voice over in Washington. History will be written in pencil, the whole spiel was pretty good while everybody went their separate ways.

Oh man, going to miss this show.

They setup some awesome story lines that would have been an excellent next season, like Cullen now a Col. in the army and defending the rail line. Cullen looked fantastic in his military gear.

Loved the speech by Durant as they showed things wrapping up.

Depressed this is over, what a great series, it will be missed.

Except that he's not. He left the military outfit on the hotel bed and chose to follow his love to China. Not showing up for duty is not going to go over well.

What struck me while watching those scenes was that gov't hasn't changed that much in 100+ years ! Today, lobbyists have simply replaced 'developers' like Durant and others.

Yeah I know he didn't, but that story line (had they kept it) would of been an awesome next season. He took it off and left because it was the series finale not the season finale. I would have loved to see Cullen out there keeping the railroad safe. Bummed this is over.

Nifty the way they tied in how the show started, with Cullen in DC chasing down one of his wife/kids killers....and shooting him in the head in the church, in effect murdering him....with the finale having him go to the same confessional and finding forgiveness....finding the bullet hole in the wall where he blew the guys brains out...and then breaking down (again) and "finding himself".

Durant's words were fitting as well. Grant's words were fitting. And Bohannon didn't want to kill Indians. Also, Ava riding off into the sunset with the horse she had broken.

Good stuff...and it will be missed.

I enjoyed the series but wow, what a mediocre final season. Some episodes were pretty good (I enjoyed the finale) but overall it was so disjointed and throwing in the early episodes mainly being focused on the Chinese workers at the new railroad just didn't work for me. That's something you do in a season before the last to better develop characters, not in the final season. Was like they rebooted the show in a way.

Like many good shows that seem to phone it in during the final season, I wish this had ended after the 4th season.

As far a "final" season goes, the show like many other AMC shows received an order for a slightly expanded season (14) which were then split over two years. My point is the concept for the shows conclusion was developed two years ago. IOW, one brain storming session, not two. I also think most of this years seven episodes were subpar except for the much better finale.
